DIRECTOR OF GOVERNMENT AND SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS

JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Chief External Relations Officer, The Director of School and Government Partnerships will work directly with local and state governments, school districts and civic organizations to build strong and enduring relationships that result in approximately $2 million in revenue for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta.  An ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with state and local government and school district leaders to manage complex partnerships. They will take a strategic and long-term approach to cultivating relationships, creating proposals and working with legislators. An ideal candidate will have:

  • Passion for the mission of BBBSMA Ability to develop a strong case for support that will appeal to government and school district leaders at all levels. Ability to oversee engagement with legislators in Georgia, leveraging opportunities to share our impact story across the state. Experience working with school districts to secure contracts and MOUs, create new partnerships and generate revenue. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet concurrent deadlines, show strong attention to detail and organize time and priorities. The ability to think strategically and creatively about partnerships. A spirit of collaboration that fosters positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders Experience in successfully soliciting large ($100k+) government contracts, grants and gifts. Ability to collaborate with the program team that delivers service. Knowledge of Georgia government, with a focus on Atlanta. Strong writing skills and excellent presentation and public speaking skills Solid decision-making ability High degree of integrity, initiative, and resilience

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain an active portfolio of prospects built through research, networking and expansion of current agency relationships. Meet and exceed an annual revenue goal. Create and maintain strong relationships with school districts in support of school-based programs Identify key government contacts and develop strategies for funding from local and state governments Foster relationships with community and civic organizations, local governments, and other nonprofits to promote in-person volunteer recruitment activities. Make frequent presentations on behalf of the agency. Utilize Salesforce to track activities and campaigns related to revenue goals. Manage multiple projects and complete them with minimal supervision.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree required. Degree in Nonprofit Management, English, Journalism, Public Affairs, Communications, Public Administration or a related field preferred. Master’s degree or additional certification a plus.

Minimum 10 years of experience in government/school district relations preferred, with a strong track record of success in generating revenue.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications especially Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Asana and CRM (Salesforce preferred)

Strong initiative and desire to advance development skills and career

OTHER INFORMATION:

  • May be required to occasionally work nights and weekends as needed
  • Local and overnight travel may be required
  • Hybrid and flexible work schedule
