Position Overview:
The Florida PTA seeks an innovative and strategic Executive Director to lead the organization’s operations, advocacy efforts, fundraising, and long-term growth. This role requires a dynamic leader with solid nonprofit management experience, an ability to foster collaborations and a deep passion for empowering families and communities.

This leader will embrace the complexity of the state, ensuring that every region and demographic is represented in Florida PTA's work with volunteer leadership to advocate for equitable education and family engagement and help to fundraise to advance these goals.
Essential Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Vision
Support the implementation and execution of the strategic plan to ensure alignment with the mission and vision of Florida PTA while addressing the evolving needs of students, families, and schools.
Drive initiatives that reflect Florida PTA’s values, fostering advocacy efforts that address educational inequities, school safety, wellness, and family engagement.
Collaborate with the Board of Directors to define organizational priorities, ensuring Florida PTA remains a forward-thinking, impact-driven organization.
Organizational Management & Operations
Oversee daily operations and provide strong leadership to staff, contractors, partners, and support to the membership, ensuring efficient and effective administration of programs and initiatives.
Manage and mentor a diverse team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation within the office and membership.
Refine internal systems and processes to ensure organizational growth, operational efficiency, sustainability, and incorporation of technology.
Approve all staffing decisions, including hiring temporary personnel or consultants, and manage staff performance evaluations and professional development.
Experience with property and equipment management and maintenance.
Community Engagement & Advocacy
Be prepared to serve as a spokesperson for Florida PTA, advocating for policies and practices that promote student achievement and well-being.
Foster relationships with state legislators, education stakeholders, and community leaders to amplify Florida PTA’s influence in shaping educational policies.
Ensure programs, campaigns, and events reflect Florida’s diverse communities and contribute to meaningful community engagement.
Lead public outreach efforts and represent Florida PTA at state and national conferences, advocacy campaigns, and media events.
Fiscal Management & Fundraising
Develop and oversee the organization’s budget with leadership, ensuring financial stability and alignment with the strategic plan.
Lead fundraising efforts, including grant writing, corporate partnerships, and donor engagement, to diversify funding sources and increase unrestricted revenue.
Ensure compliance with all state and federal reporting, audits, and financial regulations while maintaining sound fiscal oversight of all PTA assets and resources.
Board Relations & Governance
Act as the primary liaison between Florida PTA staff and the Board of Directors, ensuring clear communication and alignment on strategic goals.
Provide regular updates on the organization’s financial health, strategic initiatives, and operational performance to the Board.
Work closely with the Board to identify new opportunities for growth, partnerships, and advocacy initiatives that align with Florida PTA’s mission.

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders, including legislators, community leaders, educators, and families.
Experience
- Collaborating with PTAs or similar mission-driven organizations committed to community engagement and advocacy.
- Flexibility to adapt to a non-traditional work schedule to support and engage a diverse group of members.
- Training members and developing resources on operational standards for consistency.
- Proven track record of successful leadership in a nonprofit or advocacy-focused organization.
- Fundraising, donor relations, increasing non-dues revenue, communications, financial management, and budget oversight.
Preferred (not all required):
- Knowledge of PTA practices and policies.
- Strong knowledge of educational policy and demonstrated government relations experience.
- Familiarity with Florida’s public education system and statewide policy landscape.
- Experience working with or serving on a Board of Directors.
- Familiarity with chapter/local unit management associations.
- Experience serving as a volunteer leader with non-profits and interacting with staff.
- Possess strong technological proficiency and familiarity with Google products, Quickbooks, social media and website management, and video conferencing.
- Must have reliable transportation.
