URBAN LEAGUE OF GREATER CHATTANOOGA (ULGC)
President & CEO
The Urban League of Greater Chattanooga (ULGC) founded in 1981, is one of 90 affiliates of the National Urban League (NUL), one of the oldest and largest community-based movements in the United States. The mission of ULGC is to enable the African American, other ethnic and underserved communities to achieve economic self-reliance, parity, power, and civil rights. The ULGC accomplishes this mission through three empowerment centers boasting of a comprehensive range of program offerings, initiatives, and strategic collaborations that impact between 10,000 - 13,000 individuals annually.
The Board of ULGC seeks a visionary, inspirational, dynamic, and proven executive to assume the role of President and Chief Executive Officer for this highly regarded advocacy and direct program services non-profit organization in the Chattanooga, Tennessee region.
The President/CEO will report to a diverse 15-member Board of Directors with an annual operating budget of approximately $3.5 million, a staff of 10-15 employees plus several independent contractors. For additional information regarding ULGC visit www.ulchatt.net
Ideal candidates will bring a passion and commitment to the work of the UL Movement. A key focus of the CEO will be enhancing engagement with the Chattanooga business community and leaders to drive support for ULGC’s mission and expanding impact.
Successful candidates will possess at least five years of senior-level experience in the non-profit, government or for-profit sectors as a chief executive, department director or other senior leadership role with budgetary and staff management expertise. Candidates should have proven fundraising experience including developing innovative and alternative sources of funding. Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written) with the ability to connect with, engage, and empower the community is imperative. Candidates must be comfortable and effective in working with a vast array of stakeholders. The ability to advocate for equity and racial justice, develop policy, programs and possess a solid understanding of economic, workforce development and social justice issues are critical for this position.
The ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree (master‘s degree preferred) and demonstrated program management experience including financial and people management experience, and fund development experience. Experience working with volunteer boards is essential.
