An Atlanta-based non-profit is seeking its next Executive Director. This organization is expressly Christian and helps early phase non-profit leaders gain the skills they need to launch and lead the work their faith inspired them to tackle. The organization is nearly thirty years old with a strong track record of impact, a dynamic team, and is positioned for a bright tomorrow! (We are keeping the name confidential because our current Executive Director has not publicly announced their decision to move on.)

At least 5 years of senior leadership in the Christian non-profit space is required for all applicants. Anyone not clearly meeting this requirement will be automatically declined.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES
Spiritual Leadership
- Pray for THE MINISTRY regularly
- Maintain a strong personal relationship with God while providing Christ-centered leadership and casting overall vision for THE MINISTRY
- By personal example, keep values central for THE MINISTRY Alignment with vision, mission, and values
- Alignment with theological convictions of the organization
- Deep conviction in the value of serving in the example of Christ and a passion to see the world impacted by the Gospel
Programs
- Oversee Director of Programs to ensure programs are meeting goals and deadlines in accordance with ongoing and strategic activities
- Oversee development and implementation of annual ministry goals with the Director of Program
Development and Communications
- Serve as the lead ambassador/cheerleader for the ministry of the ministry
- Maintain portfolio of donor relationships at the direction of Development Director
- Provide supervision and oversight to Development Director
- With Director of Development, develop and implement goals and strategies for Annual Campaign, including but not limited to Meeting with potential, new and continuing donors
- Recruiting and participating in events
- Acknowledging and honoring donors
- Ensuring proposals for support are made according to Board goals
- With Director of Communications, develop and implement annual communication strategies, including but not limited to:
- Identifying stakeholders and target audiences
- Overseeing content of collateral materials
- Maintaining presence on social media
- Elevate the ministry brand and continue to move beyond historical dependence on one key leader as relationships holder
Finance and Business
- With contracted bookkeeper and finance committee from the Board of Directors, oversee financial management, including but not limited to:
- Preparation and oversight of annual budget
- Preparation and review of monthly financial activity and statements
- Preparation and review of annual financial statements and tax documents
- With contracted bookkeeper and finance committee from the Board of Directors, ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal laws, including but not limited to:
- Preparing and submitting 990 and other required tax documents
- Maintaining corporate registration with the Georgia Secretary of State
- Overseeing the execution and deliverables of contracts with vendors
- Work with the Board of Directors and staff to develop a set of key performance indicators (KPIs) for the organization (donors, programs, communications, fundraising, etc.) that are tracked, measured and reported monthly, quarterly, etc.
Governance
- Serve on the Board of Directors as a voting member
- Partner with the Board in deciding strategic plan, pacing of plan implementation, and resources needed for plan implementation
- Support all Board committees as needed
- With the Board Chair, recruit and train Directors to ensure appropriate leadership
- With the Board Chair, coordinate Board meetings, including scheduling, planning the agenda, maintaining board and committee minutes, and providing information needed for board and committee meetings
- Participate in professional growth efforts and annual reviews under the direction of the Executive Committee of the ministry’s Board
Human Resources
- Assess and develop staffing plan to ensure appropriate staff to carry out strategic initiatives
- Hire and supervise staff, conduct periodic performance reviews
- Provide opportunities for staff to seek/obtain continuing professional development
THE RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Chair of THE MINISTRY’s Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. This position will directly oversee Director of Development, Director of Communications, and Director of Programs. The Executive Director is expected to have a good relationship with all employees.
