The Director of Development and Marketing provides strategic leadership in fund development, donor management, and marketing. Each year, the Director of Development is responsible for securing approximately $1 million in private, philanthropic support from individuals, businesses, foundations, community organizations and special events, and expanding Safe Harbor’s local and state visibility through effective marketing and outreach.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Fund and Resource Development:
- Design, implement and evaluate annual fundraising strategies, including major donor initiatives ($1,000+), annual appeals, business and community organization partnerships, foundation grants, and special events.
- Donor Relations and Stewardship:
- Manage donor recognition and acknowledgement processes, including written communications, appreciation events, and ongoing engagement.
- Donor Solicitation: Conduct research to identify prospective individual donors, foundations, and community and business organizations and customize cultivation strategies to introduce them to and involve them with Safe Harbor.
- Special Events: Identify event opportunities and work with volunteer leadership to plan and execute special events. Board Relations:
- Through the Board Development Committee, engage individual Board members in appropriate development and marketing initiatives.
- Community Relations and Marketing: Direct organizational image and branding efforts, ensuring consistent messaging in social media, press, group presentations, and printed materials.
Qualifications:
- This position requires an individual who is enthusiastic about and committed to Safe Harbor’s mission.
- Fund-raising experience is highly desirable.
- Required attributes include excellent interpersonal skills, creativity, organization, attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication, and flexibility.
