Lionheart WORKS Vocational Assistant 

Overview: The Lionheart Life Center’s Lionheart WORKS Vocational Training Program is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Vocational Assistant to join our team in implementing high-quality vocational support to our young adults 18 years old and up with autism and other neurodevelopmental differences. As a key member of our vocational team, you will work collaboratively with other staff to create an inclusive and nurturing environment for young adults with diverse profiles while encouraging them to reach their highest level of independence. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide job coaching assistance to young adults who are employed or volunteering at external work sites in the community or one of our internal sites - technology, art production, garden, radio station, and culinary arts
  • Assist or lead recreational and job training activities for young adults
  • During work hours, transport small groups of young adults to their work sites in the community 
  • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages engagement and participation

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall vocational environment.
  • Communicate regularly with other Lionheart WORKS staff about the individual's progress and address any concerns.

Assessment and Data Collection:

  • Assist in data collection by scoring progress and taking notes on worksite performance.

Professional Development:

  • Stay informed about best practices in supporting employment for young adults with neurodiverse developmental differences and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities offered by Lionheart
  • Actively seek to enhance skills and knowledge related to the developmental model and its vocational application to our neurodiverse population.


  • Minimum of bachelor's degree, with some college coursework in human services, vocational rehabilitation, education or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with diverse learning needs, preferably in a special education setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for working with young adults with neurodiverse profiles.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a team of supported employment professionals.
