GCN’s Nonprofit Consulting Group provides expert guidance to develop and execute strategies and build capacity for organizations of all sizes, enabling them to accelerate and grow their impact. The Consulting Group’s services encompass organization strategy, boards and governance, organizational development, operations and strategy implementation, talent strategy and succession planning, revenue strategy, and facilitation.  

Position Overview 

The Senior Consultant’s primary role is to provide quality consulting services to GCN clients and to participate actively in business development to grow consulting revenue, serve more clients, and expand GCN’s impact. GCN’s primary clients are nonprofit organizations within the state of Georgia, along with foundations, associations, and corporations engaged in the nonprofit sector. 

We are looking for consultants with experience and skills to develop and deliver consulting engagements within GCN’s focus areas for impact: Strategy, Boards & Governance, Growth & Change, Revenue Strategy, and Talent.  

GCN consultants collaborate with GCN’s Membership Services, Nonprofit University, and Development teams to develop and deliver content for GCN member events, cohort programs, and other forums that advance GCN’s mission. 

GCN consultants must be dynamic, energetic, strategic, and experienced professionals with a broad skill set. This position requires the ability to diagnosis issues and recommend consulting approaches, and the ability to scope and price consulting projects to deliver desired outcomes.  

GCN consultants work with many different types of nonprofits and are responsible for meeting quality, utilization, and financial goals.  

Responsibilities 

  • Develop, scope, and deliver consulting engagements within GCN’s focus areas for impact: Strategy, Boards & Governance, Growth & Change, Revenue Strategy, and Talent 
  • Conduct and participate in business development opportunities to develop a robust pipeline, grow revenue, and build GCN’s consulting visibility and brand 
  • Prepare proposals, estimates and project deliverables 
  • Facilitate GCN clients effectively in staff and board sessions encompassing strategic planning, board development and other topics 
  • Participate with GCN’s team in planning, developing, and delivering events, content, and services that provide value to GCN members and the Georgia nonprofit sector 
  • Deliver content for GCN member events 
  • Develop and deliver content for cohort groups 
  • Network and build lasting customer relationships 
  • Maintain sales pipeline, project status, utilization, and other data within GCN’s tools 
  • Enter proposals, client deliverables, contact information and other artifacts in GCN’s databases 

Position Requirements 

  • 5-10 years of consulting experience in relevant disciplines to GCN’s service set, with a track record of results and client satisfaction 
  • Experience in scoping, managing, and delivering projects to provide committed outcomes on time and on budget 
  • Experience in consulting business development, including building relationships, collaborative selling of services, and developing successful proposals 
  • Experience and professional presence in working with organization leaders 
  • Experience as a facilitator - planning, facilitating, and documenting collaborative work sessions of client teams and boards 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills demonstrated in client communications and group presentations 
  • Ability to work with the diverse individuals, groups, and organizations within the nonprofit sector 
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate a diverse workload in a fast-paced work environment 
  • Skilled in use of Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.) 
  • Skilled in use of online research tools 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business management, MBA preferred 

Preferred Additional Requirements 

  • Experience within nonprofit sector as consultant, manager, or board member 
  • Experience in developing and analyzing online surveys 

Work Locations and Schedules 

GCN serves clients across the state of Georgia, with a strong concentration of clients in metro Atlanta. Consulting services are delivered through a mix of onsite work at client locations, work at GCN’s offices, and remote work. GCN’s offices are located at 881 Memorial Drive SE Atlanta, GA 30316. We offer flexible arrangements for working from office or home, with the expectation that employees come to the office two days/week to support team interaction, collaboration in planning and delivery of work, and presence with nonprofit leaders invited into our space.  

GCN consultants are expected to be flexible to facilitate client retreats and board sessions, which may occur on weekends or in the evening.  

Compensation 

The base salary for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 per year, commensurate with skills and experience. GCN offers a benefits package including health and dental coverage.
