Job Details

Human Service Professional is responsible for the watchful oversight of the Child Caring Institute for House of Cherith. The HSP is responsible for monitoring the residents’ needs and ensuring that appropriate services are being provided and arranged for in order to meet those needs. Duties include, but are not limited to; the coordination of the facility’s admission evaluation; the development of the service and Room, Board and watchful oversight plans; case work services as provided in the resident’s plan; monitoring of the resident’s educational and or vocational needs. HSP will support the guiding principles of House of Cherith at all times.

Human Service Professional will report to the Program Manager for HOC Jr.



Admissions and Intake

  • Individual Service plan with 7 days of intake and reviewed with resident and director. Submit to DFCS
  • Individual Service plan every 30 days and reviewed monthly with resident and director. Submit to DFCS.
  • Oversight of Education for all residents
  • Review disciplinary opportunities, when applicable
  • Review Medical log book and sign off daily
  • Verify  House Supervisor arrived for shift on time and duties are completed
  • “On Call” services, as needed.  I.e. Emergency, HM absence, Emergency intake
  • Transport residents, if needed, to scheduled appointments
  • Discharge report when a resident is discharged. Review with the Manager. Submit to DFCS.
  • Review nightly supervision log.
  • Responsible for record keeping and confidentiality procedure
  • HSP will assume responsibilities and operations when the manager is absent from the institution at any time.


  • Review school and homework progress
  • Review all goals, individual service plan
  • Review visitation log
  • Case Plans including case notes


  • Review any medical, dental and therapy needs 
  • Review Emergency evacuation plan with residents
  • Prepare monthly Child Summary Report and submit to DFCS upon manager approval


  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, childhood education, education counseling and psychology, or a related field preferred. May also qualify with Bachelor’s degree in field as noted above along with a minimum two years relevant experience in the field of child care with a behavioral health focus.
  • Trauma training and experience.
  • Possess an awareness of community social services and the referral process.
  • Have current evidence of successful completion of a biennial training program in CPR and a triennial training program in first aid which have been offered by a certified or licensed health care professional within the first year of employment.
  • Must be able to able to pass criminal background check fingerprinting and 5-year MVR and any requirements from DHS/DFCS.
  • Must have active driver’s license.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training opportunities.
  • Computer literate.
  • Core competencies of time management, organization, communications, adaptability, empathetic.


The HSP is expected to complete RBWO Foundations new hire training within 4 months from the employment start date or be waived from the training within 15 days of hire. The HSP must enroll in one or both components within 30 days from the date of hire. The HSP must pass the knowledge-based competency test with a score of at least 80% in order to earn credit for the classroom component.
