Position Description:

This position will aid a Senior Grant Writer in producing highly competitive grant proposals, performing grant research, cultivating relationships with foundation program officers and grant managers, performing pre-and post-award grant management services, and preparing reports semi-annually.

Essential Job Functions

  • Work with Senior Grant Writer and Principal.
  • Provide specialized grant writing services, including interpretation and analysis of required specifications and pre-award activities for federal, state, local, and private funding sources.
  • Write competitive grants that are aligned with the parameters of the grant application.
  • Complete grant applications as assigned.
  • Research grant opportunities and create grant calendars with supervision.
  • Demonstrate quick proficiency in the technology McEwen Solutions uses to service clients, including reporting and tracking client work, creating proposals, managing workflow, and all communication channels.
  • Meet expected standards of excellence, accuracy, and timeliness in all work products.
  • Ensure proper documentation of communication and work products, managing great records.
  • Organize work to ensure all required deadlines are met.
  • Participate in technical assistance provided by grantors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of computer programs, software, and online document-sharing programs, including but not limited to MS Office and Google Suite.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of online grant application portals (foundations, corporate, and government).
  • Ability to communicate and discuss, in writing and orally, in a clear, concise, well-organized manner.
  • Demonstrated exceptional critical thinking, stellar work ethic, and organizational skills.
  • Become quickly proficient in Foundation Center Directory Online and Teams Project Management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in creating and editing grant budgets.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize, and coordinate work independently with low supervision.
  • Strong ability to multitask and flexibility to take on new assignments as opportunities arise.
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including program staff, executive staff, funders, and external partners.


  • Bachelor's Degree in English or a related field preferred.
  • At least one year of experience in grant-seeking, grant research, grant making, or grant writing and/or proof of completed grant writing courses preferred.

Work Environment

This position works as an independent contractor, mostly virtually. Some limited client meetings (virtual and in-person) will be required in the Atlanta area. Work hours are significantly flexible as long as the work product meets team timelines and client deadlines. Monthly meetings will be held at Switchyards co-working (six locations around the city for flexibility) or at the client headquarters in the Grant Park area.
