PASTOR OF EVANGELISM
JOB TYPE: EXEMPT, FULL-TIME, SALARY
ACCOUNTABLE TO: SENIOR PASTOR
WORK LOCATION: HYBRID (twice a week on-site frequency)
OVERVIEW: Word of Faith is looking for a Pastor of Evangelism who is passionate about the Great Commission and making the Gospel practical for the everyday believer to incorporate into their daily lives. This person should have a desire to reach the lost, integrating them in the life of the Church (local and at-large) through established strategies and Spirit-led inspiration. The Pastor of Evangelism should be an innovative and strategic thinker, able to reimagine what evangelism looks like in our current climate and beyond. He/she should be passionate about Evangelism, connecting people with and to one another as they embody a position centered around relational evangelism, meeting spiritual/physical needs, and shining a light in the community. The Pastor of Evangelism will be the Head of Christian Orientation Education at Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral (WFFWC) and will serve as lead over the following: Classes (Foundations in Christianity, Foundations in Priesthood) and Ministries (Telephone-follow up, Altar, Outreach, Cornucopia, Community Outreach, Prison, Street, Missions).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preach the unadulterated Gospel of Jesus Christ for classes, events, services, etc. as is fitting and needful for the work of the ministry, providing theological context for those wishing for a deeper understanding; accept invitations to present and garner support for WOF’s evangelistic mission
- Lay the foundation of evangelism through teaching the word of God, sharing examples and testimonials of faith, and living as an example and ambassador of Christ
- Direct strategic evangelism initiatives that engage the immediate and surrounding communities
- Host training, awareness, and community conversation events for the church and surrounding communities to share and re-enforce the why’s and how’s behind evangelism for the believer as well as sharing the state of the current climate; Deliver compelling arguments, insightful information, and practical tips for attendees to easily begin implementing in their daily lives
- Help establish and reinforce WOF’s evangelistic footprint through forming, strengthening, and solidifying positive and mutually supportive collaborative relationships and partnerships with community, religious, and business leaders
- Practice relational evangelism, populating the church with unchurched newcomers
- Oversee and lead recruitment of diverse volunteers to serve on evangelism, missions and community engagement teams
- Identify and capitalize on untapped evangelistic opportunities within the life of the church where the platform could serve evangelistic goals and initiatives
- Cultivate an evangelistic awareness in WOF members, spurring them to action and involvement, along with developing simplistic ways to equip them for the work of the evangelistic landscape
- Teach and mentor business leaders on exercising wisdom in their evangelistic strategies through integration within their businesses (i.e. participation in the evangelistic training process, integration of biblical principles and an evangelistic edge within the thread of their business plan and model)
- Coordinate and oversee fundraising drives, benefits, and giveaways to engage and bless members of the community
- Serve as a liaison between community leaders/partners and WOF’s executive leadership and pastoral teams to facilitate programs, events, initiatives, and conversations around the mission of WOF
- Stay abreast of local, national, and international cultural and political shifts that impact the evangelistic landscape and be ready to speak to the climate and introduce new strategies to navigate the changing terrain
- Engage social media as leverage to share the Gospel along with ministry and community initiatives and events
- Perform ministry services (i.e. counseling, weddings, communion, eulogies, etc.) as needed and requested
- Perform other duties as requested
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to preach and/or teach the Word of God effectively
- Possesses great interpersonal skills and the ability and willingness to build meaningful relationships through connection and engagement with people from diverse backgrounds including WOF members, community members and leaders, vendors, donors, etc.
- Possesses excellent leadership, verbal communication skills, project management, teaching, and ministerial skills
- Group facilitation skills and focus group experience
- Ability to develop information and raw data into meaningful conclusions, recognizing common factors and trends
- Ability to set and achieve goals and provide directional leadership
- Ability to counsel people in their time of need
- Ability to build a fruitful ministry team
- Knowledge of online tools used for ministry delivery
- Possesses excellent written, organizational, project management and planning, multi-tasking, critical thinking, presentation, and time management skills
- Possesses keen attention to detail and the ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines
- Ability to prioritize workflow, delegate tasks, and oversee multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to make timely decisions and operate effectively under pressure
- Ability to defuse and resolve difficult situations and exercise keen discernment in decision making
- Ability to adapt quickly within a growing church environment
- Upholds a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion at all times
SPIRITUAL TESTIMONY:
- Possesses a growing and committed relationship with Jesus Christ that is evidenced by a strong prayer life, worship, and a lifestyle of honor and obedience to God’s Word
- Possess a love and commitment to the growth and development of all people
- Possess a heart for reaching the lost and bringing all people into the family of God by biblical means
- Possess spiritual integrity and good character with a positive attitude about God, self, others, and responsibilities
- Meets biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership (see Titus chapters 1-3 and 1 Timothy 3 Col. 1:28; Acts. 20:28)
- Is committed to and faithful to their spouse (if applicable) and family
- No moral failure in the last 5 years
- Has a strong prayer life and practices other spiritual disciplines of the Christian faith (studying the Holy Bible, fellowship with other Christians, fasting, worship, solitude, rest, etc.)
- Evidence of faithfulness and good stewardship of God’s resources
- Possess a teachable and humble spirit with a prepared and eager heart to serve
- Possess a sincere belief that God has planted him/her at WOFFWC, and has a strong commitment to the church's vision, mission, spiritual leadership, and people
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent public speaking and/or presentation
- Passionate motivation for improving lives for Christ
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of Bible school or ministry training or years of experience
- Experience in coordination and management of diverse projects; community engagement, collaborations, and partnerships
- Evidence of leadership and mentorship covering
- Two or more years of lay ministry experience
- Loves and enjoys being with and interacting with people
- Visionary leadership and shepherding experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint, along with data analytics
- Social media navigation and familiarity
- Must be a licensed and ordained Minister at WOFFWC (or commit to pursuing through WOFFWC)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five or more years of full-time ministry and/or non-profit leadership experience
- Preaching and/or teaching gift(s)
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
- Experience in community needs assessment measurement
- Experience in one-on-one shepherding and ministering
- Previous church or organizational leadership experience
- Spiritual gifts: Evangelism, Compassion, Discernment, Gift of Faith and/or Healing
- Knowledge of different uses of technology in ministry
