POSITION OVERVIEW
BANANAS Inc. seeks to welcome an early care and education professional passionate about ensuring equity and access to resources for families with young children and to the early educators that support their growth and learning. The Director is a member of the executive leadership team and provides thought-partnership to advance the vision and mission of BANANAS. In addition to managing the Family Services, Professional Development, and Provider Services departments, the Director is responsible for the stewardship of our partners and allies in the Early Care and Education (ECE) ecosystem and forging new partnerships and allies to further our mission. Reporting to the CEO, the Director will manage a diverse portfolio of programs and services and corresponding budget.

We are experts in the field of early care and education, and our programs and services support families and early care educators in raising our youngest learners to be happy and confident children. We provide assistance to families to find and pay for quality child care, parenting workshops, affinity support groups, playgroups, and professional development for early care and education providers. Our support allows working families to thrive and be confident their children are in quality and nurturing learning environments. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
The Director is a curious, forward-thinking thought partner and subject matter expert on ECE programs on the executive team and works collaboratively to set the programmatic direction of the organization to advance our mission and vision. The Director will cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key partners to foster collaboration to expand the organization's reach and impact.
Programmatic
The Director is responsible for setting goals of the Community Services departments, evaluating and managing performance, and supporting a talented and engaged team of four direct reports - the Provider Services Manager who supervises the work of early learning coaches, Head Start program, Health & Safety program, and playgroups; the Professional Development Manager who leads the BANANAS early childhood educator professional development program, and the Family Services Manager who supervises the work of our Resource and Referral counselors, family navigators and parent education trainings, and the Data Specialist who designs and maintains the BANANAS programmatic database. The Director ensures compliance and fulfillment of all Community Services contract deliverables, fiscal and programmatic reporting. The Director will collaborate with stakeholders and partners as needed to respond to programmatic and funding opportunities; adapt and integrate new programs; and represent BANANAS at stakeholder meetings, held in varying frequency and some may require out of town/overnight travel.
Fiscal
The Director will have oversight of the Community Services budget that encompasses three department budgets to ensure we meet the programmatic, financial, and regulatory requirements of our contracts. The Director will frequently collaborate with the Director of Finance and Administration and her department to ensure fiscal and contractual compliance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in the Early Childhood and Education sector
- Minimum three (3) years of management experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency developing and managing a growing $4M program budget with diverse funding sources
- Proficiency in Google Workplace, Microsoft 365 Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and using databases
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation
DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES - SKILLS - EXPERIENCES
- Familiarity with communities in the Oakland metropolitan area and organizations serving them
- Knowledge of early learning quality modalities and coaching
- Knowledge of client and programmatic-centric database systems
- Knowledge of California State regulations that govern early care and education
This is a full-time, onsite, exempt position.
