 Position Summary:

The Rhode Island Chapter Senior Development Manager is accountable for the performance and success of fundraising events and strategies for the Rhode Island Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. This person will mobilize and manage staff and volunteers to implement chapter development strategies. The Senior Development  Manager will also have personal fundraising goals. In addition, this person will be responsible for working with the home office Major Gift staff on developing and growing an intermediate/major gifts program for the chapter. Based in Providence, Rhode Island, this position requires frequent travel within the state and occasional travel throughout the United States.

 

Responsibilities

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Train and supervise special events team responsible for event production
  • Supervise staff as they coordinate multiple Walk to End Alzheimer’s, The Longest Day and other fundraising initiatives
  • Walk and The Longest Day responsibilities include: managing specific fundraising Walks, team captain/walker recruitment and retention; corporate sponsor cultivation and solicitation; promotion and marketing activities; and all event logistics
  • Work with chapter staff and volunteers to identify donors with larger giving potential.
  • Implement a year round strategy to cultivate and solicit donors, working in collaboration with the New England Executive Donor Advisor
  • Work with the Executive Director to identify and develop non-event based revenue streams for the chapter, such as cultivating foundation grants and corporate partners
  • Execute national and state fundraising campaigns with staff and volunteers
  • Collaborate with regional and national development staff to achieve fundraising goals
  • Assist staff in identifying, recruiting, training and managing high impact volunteers who will assist the organization in increasing concern and awareness as well as growing revenue
  • Prepare reports and provide information as requested and required; oversee fundraising budgets and maintain financial records for events
  • Provide support to overall fundraising operations in Rhode Island to include: customer service to constituents, coordination with all Chapter staff, donor/sponsor/advocate relations and communications, management of donor relations, etc. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, Professional Certifications (CFRE or CFRM) preferred
  • 5+ years of fundraising experience, with experience in managing fundraising initiatives preferred.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience required
  • Experience in mass market event fundraising (walks, cycling, runs, etc.) strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to form and develop corporate relationships and partnerships
  • Experience in major donor cultivation preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent computer and database skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills, sales and marketing, volunteer management and development experience
  • Detail oriented, adaptable, organized and able to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks
  • Prior experience in strategic planning and budget development and management preferred
  • Basic knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently, set priorities, delegate and meet deadlines
  • Must be a team player
  • Must have a car and a valid driver’s license for travel throughout Rhode Island and occasional meetings in New England
  • Must be available to work some evenings, weekends, extended hours for meetings and events and occasional out of state meetings
