About Us
Global Growers Network (GGN) is a nonprofit based in Decatur, GA that partners with people from diverse cultures to grow fresh food for their families and for local marketplaces. We work with more than 300 growers representing over 20 cultures and languages. We operate a network of community gardens in Decatur and Clarkston, a market farm located at the Indian Creek MARTA station in Stone Mountain, and a 23-acre organic co-farm in Conyers.
Position Summary and Candidate Vision
The Director of Programs is a new role that reports to the Executive Director to guide and oversee all programmatic work of the organization, including grower-focused and agritourism activities at our gardens and farms. The ideal candidate will excel at organizational strategy, innovative program design/execution, and the management of diverse teams, in the context of local agriculture and food systems.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direct supervision, and coaching for farm and garden staff
- Provide oversight to GGN’s farm and garden operations
- Create systems to monitor, measure, and evaluate the impact of GGN’s work
- Liaise with the Executive Director, Director of Operations and Board of Directors to develop strategy, objectives, and performance measures for GGN’s garden and farm programs and operations
- Represent GGN with external stakeholders, including other nonprofits, media, government officials, and funders
- In consultation with Director of Operations, develop and monitor budgets for programs and projects, and ensure that all programs and projects are within budget
- Support the fundraising team to create compelling grant requests that will attract resources to fund new and existing programs
- Ensure garden and farm teams have opportunities to contribute to fundraising vision and all programmatic initiatives are in alignment with funder deliverables
- Support all grant reporting requirements, with co-responsibility for financial reports and lead responsibility for program narratives.

Requirements
- A broad understanding of local food and farming systems
- Three years’ experience building and leading high-performing teams, with experience in cross-cultural and multilingual environments strongly preferred
- Five years’ experience with program management, including results-driven design strategy, management tools, work plan development, and evaluation/impact frameworks. Ideally this will be in a farming/food systems setting
- Proven ability to develop and maintain budgets, lead the development of work plans and deliverables, track data, and develop program reports
- Two years’ experience working in a garden or farm setting (e.g. vegetable farming, community garden, cooperative extension, farm-based education)
- A demonstrated ability to to shift communication styles to fit the needs of a wide range of cultures, people, and organizations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Access to reliable transportation for travel between GGN sites and to offsite meetings
Location and Schedule
This is an exempt position requiring a minimum of forty hours per week, with standard working hours, Tuesday - Saturday, along with occasional pre-scheduled evening and weekend work. This position will work at least 2 days/week from our office at Legacy Park in Decatur, and at least 1 day/week in the farm office in Conyers, with regular visits to other garden sites. Remote/virtual work is possible outside of necessary in-office responsibilities.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Benefits include: Healthcare Reimbursement Account ($370/month), cell phone stipend ($25/month), SIMPLE IRA retirement account (3% match), paid time off (starts at 14 days/year) and paid holidays (6 public holidays; 2 floating holidays; 2 week bonus time at year-end), and professional development budget ($1,000/year).
