JA SoCal’s newest program, the high school partnership program with 3DE by Junior Achievement, re-engineers public high school education, making schools more relevant, experiential, and authentically connected to the complexities of the real world, more fully preparing today’s students for the demands of tomorrow’s economy.

SUMMARY: Lead the identification, development and implementation of new strategic funding outreach and initiatives in the Southern California business community and steward and grow existing funder relationships to drive the long-term success of JA So Cal. This candidate will bring a network of strong community and business relationships and contacts in the Southern California area, with experience working with Senior Leaders, C-Suite Individuals and Executive Teams, and a deep understanding of the local business and non-profit fundraising landscape. This is a driving, revenue-generating role reporting directly to the CEO. Expectation to meet or exceed annual goals and responsibility for undertaking all appropriate tasks necessary to achieve those goals.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strengthen the long-term financial health of the organization by researching, accessing, managing, and closing new-business initiatives and prospects using a collaborative, value-based CSR solution-selling approach.
  • Identify, prioritize and execute partnerships that build robust year-round business partner pipelines to meet revenue and new business goals
  • Develop long-term and annual plans with quantifiable goals and objectives that result in diversified corporate funding streams. Execute detailed follow-up on plans, including cultivation outreach and meetings, grant and proposal writing as needed, and administrative follow-through as needed to close funding opportunities.
  • Communicate with JA SoCal team to ensure relevant programming and volunteer details and stewardship goals are clear.
  • Represent JA SoCal at public/private conferences, including making presentations, networking at events, and participating on panels. Serve as a JA SoCal representative to community and business organizations and prospective opportunities.
  • Regularly review and analyze current business trends to identify business opportunities that would generate revenue and other forms of mission support.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key funders, board members, volunteers, and JA So Cal constituents in support of expanding our corporate funding base. Oversee fulfillment of strategic partnership deliverables. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure coordination by all members of the JA So Cal as appropriate.
  • Actively use the JA SoCal CRM system to track annual funding opportunities and day to day updates on funder communications and information; provide analysis and written reporting and forecasting on progress towards development priorities.
  • Serve as the key liaison & collaborator between funding sources and our internal teams. Work in concert with the CEO, COO and Advancement Team to provide regular and coordinated internal feedback and analysis on progress and needs.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or requested. Must be willing to work proactively, collaboratively and responsively to support overall organizational goals.

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree and 7+ years professional experience, including 5+ years demonstrated experience meeting measurable goals and targets for fundraising, sales or new business partnerships preferably non-profit fundraising.
  • Experience that prepares you for working comfortably with JA funders and partners who may be CEO's or in executive or elite business, philanthropic or community roles.
  • Experience managing your own workload with independent judgement to balance short-term goals with long-range business plans.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds and work at computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must have a CA driver license, and have reliable transportation that is California insured, for work-related travel throughout the area (mileage reimbursed).
  • Due to our work with schools, must be fully vaccinated, with exceptions for medical requirements or sincerely held religious beliefs.
  • Must be able and willing to work in-person in HQ offices and in business outreach.

DESIRED:

  • 2 Preference for individuals with a background specifically in a non-profit organization or a corporate CSR division, with responsibility for an annual revenue target and with an understanding of non-profit and corporate CSR fundraising cycles.
  • Knowledge of Southern California area philanthropic communities desired.
  • Preference for candidate with demonstrated experience that will allow them to confidently service Fortune 500 executives, building rapport, listening well, interacting with and inspiring senior executives and business and philanthropic leaders.
  • Experience working with and understanding the business environment and priorities of blue-chip and high-growth target partners a plus.
  • Experience with successful proposal writing for non-profit corporate funders and philanthropic communities a plus.
