Job Details

The Gwinnett Coalition is seeking a passionate and entrepreneurial Community Health Programs Director (CHPD).  The CHPD will be a dynamic leader with a history of leading community partners to achieve significant community development goals. The CHPD manages Resilient Gwinnett’s internal and external functions, including strategy and data, and work collaboratively with the Engagement team on communications. The CHPD must be comfortable using evidence-based practices to promote health equity and inclusion to meet the ever-changing needs of Gwinnett’s growing and diverse community.

The Community Health Program Director (CHPD) works with the Community Health Program Manager to lead initiatives and programs related to improving community health in Gwinnett County, including the Infant and Maternal Mortality Action Team, Resilient Gwinnett, and related focus areas. The CHPD leads the Coalition’s collaboration with groups of community partners across sectors to devise strategies to improve community health in high-priority focus areas.

Reporting Relationships

  • Supervises Community Health Program Manager
  • Reports to Chief Operating Officer

Responsibilities

The CHPD will manage staff and systems related to the existing Resilient Gwinnett and Infant and Maternal Mortality initiatives and any future related initiatives. The CHPD will be accountable for nurturing efficiency and effectiveness by providing leadership and high-level strategic thinking. Key responsibilities include:

Leadership

  • Provide adaptive leadership, modeling the Gwinnett Coalition’s guiding principles and values at all times and fostering a culture that reflects them
  • Develop, coach, and mentor team members, including staff, interns, and others
  • Engage in effective and open collaboration and communication with staff, particularly related to internal decisions and strategy
  • Implement strategies to seek stakeholder input, synthesize information, and share organizational decisions with the Resilient Gwinnett Steering Committee, staff, and stakeholders

Steering Committee and Action Team Meeting Support

  • In collaboration with the Community Health Program Manager (CHPM), facilitate Steering Committee and Action Team meetings, assist in the preparation of meeting materials, etc.
  • Provide regular reports on progress against goals and indicators

Resource Development

  • In collaboration with the Director of Resource Development, identify potential funding sources to support Resilient Gwinnett’s goals and priorities and oversee grant management and reporting, as needed

Community Partner Collaboration

  • Coordinate evaluation with initiative partners to minimize redundancies and to align strategies and actions, including conducting individual outreach and education as needed
  • Coordinate with other projects and coalitions in the same field to maintain a full understanding of the current landscape of local and regional activities, and integrate their work into Steering Committee and Action Team processes
  • Facilitate communication between Resilient Gwinnett partners by hosting regular conference calls, in-person meetings, or sending email updates to ensure alignment of activities

Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting

  • Create or manage the creation of reports related to Resilient Gwinnett's progress for the Steering Committee, funders, and external audiences
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a shared measurement system that will track common outcomes and indicators across the initiative and use results to inform learning and continuous improvement

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience, including at least 3 years managing high-performing teams in a nonprofit, social enterprise, or business start-up environment
  • Experience leading groups or coalitions of community stakeholders to accomplish shared goals
  • Ability to think strategically on both organizational and systemic levels over multi-year horizons and plan accordingly
  • Strong data acumen and ability to oversee shared-measurement systems
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills before different audience types
  • Experience with project management and stakeholder management
  • Existing relationships with, or ability to build relationships with, a cross-sector range of stakeholders in the local or regional area, including senior executives
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build authentic relationships with a diverse set of high-profile stakeholders
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to thrive in a fluid, entrepreneurial environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, policy, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in education, social sciences, policy, or a related field
  • Experience in a start-up environment
  • Familiarity with the local area and focus of the initiative (e.g., childhood trauma, trauma-informed approaches)
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Korean, or Vietnamese
