ABOUT BEA
Building Equity and Alignment for Environmental Justice (BEA)’s mission is to foster authentic cross-sector relationships to advance the progress of the environmental movement towards a just transition. We shift power and resources from institutions to grassroots leadership to transform the environmental movement. BEA generates courageous collaborations and open communication by bringing together grassroots organizations, national “Big Green” organizations, and philanthropy.
In 2022, BEA completed a new 5 year -strategic plan and was the recipient of a $15 million Bezos Earth Fund grant, which allowed BEA to shift the highest amount of grant dollars to the grassroots organizing sector. BEA is a BIPOC-led, growing, remote team who work in close collaboration with BEA members and partners to elevate the grassroots solutions that are key to our collective survival and wellbeing.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting to the Development Director (DD), the Development Manager (DM) will play a key role in maximizing BEA’s fundraising effectiveness and will be responsible for creating and managing development operations, identifying new funding opportunities through prospect research, drafting compelling narratives to retain and invite new partnerships, and deepening relationships with BEA grassroots members and funder and national green allies. Next to the DD, the DM will be the second development staff member for BEA. A large majority of BEA’s revenue comes from private institutional philanthropy and national environmental funding. In partnership with the DD, the DM will support revenue generation across all fundraising streams with an opportunity to support the development of an individual giving strategy as we work to engage new environmental justice (EJ) champions.
