SUMMARY:

The Development Director is responsible for raising necessary funds to meet CaringWorks’ financial goals. The Director will develop strategies to identify and secure diverse funding sources, including but not limited to, philanthropic, governmental, corporate and individual donor/stakeholders. The Director will work closely with marketing and public relations professionals to inform, educate and attract potential supporters.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Develop or oversee the development of comprehensive fundraising and marketing plans which generate monetary and in-kind support from a diverse base of funding sources (i.e., government, philanthropic, individual and corporate).

● Ensure ongoing research to identify potential individual, corporate and institutional (foundation and government) grantors/donors.

● Ensure timely submission of well-written grant applications, proposals and required reports to philanthropic and government funding entities.

● Direct and/or oversee implementation of major gifts solicitations and capital campaigns.

● Serve as staff liaison to the Board of Directors fundraising committee.

● Develop and maintain a donor database and reliable system of gift recording and acknowledgement.

● Contribute to leadership development of relevant agency policies.

● Coordinate (or execute) corporate communications, social media and related public relations efforts, both internal and external, i.e., www.caringworksinc.org

● Coordinate and supervise volunteer service group events.

● Serve as a resource to the greater community to educate the public on the agency and the cause of homelessness and behavioral health.

● Plan and coordinate fundraising and other special events.

● Communicate, educate, and involve internal staff to coordinate and optimize marketing activities

● Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with individuals and organizations for marketing/ fundraising opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS:

● Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business or other relevant field required; Master’s degree preferred.

● A minimum of five years’ experience; a minimum of three years supervisory experience

● Demonstrable track record in fundraising and resource development.

● Excellent oral, written and analytical skills.

● Organized, detail-oriented with strong ability to multitask.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

● In-depth understanding of current philanthropic and public relations interests of corporations, acquired through regular contact with those organizations.

● Experience with development and maintenance of donor relations programs necessary to keep the institution name and achievements alive in the minds of corporate executives and board members.

● Ability to organize fundraising activities effectively, prioritize prospects, and participate in high-level gift discussions.

● Demonstrated management experience for the successful leadership and mentoring of professional and support staff.

● Ability to effectively plan, focus, and execute to bring improvement to current ways of doing business.

● Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability and personality to work collaboratively, accept responsibility, and motivate colleagues, volunteers and donors.

● Experience with marketing development and campaigns including but not limited to online, social media, print, and email

● Experience with CRM or donor database management

● Brand development and reputation management
