Cooking Matters Satellite South Georgia Coordinator

Open Hand Cooking Matters (OHCM) is focused on the low-income population in Georgia who are at risk of hunger and are more susceptible to obesity and other behavior based risk factors and diseases. The Cooking Matters Program will support the mission of Open Hand/Atlanta providing nutrition education with program management and evaluation of the state-wide SNAP ED work. This position is in the Southern Region of Georgia. It is a hybrid position that does include travel around South Georgia.

JOB SKILLS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Coordination:

  • Maintains responsibility for managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while assessing need for nutrition education and obesity prevention programming in Georgia.
  • Coordinate with program partners, satellite coordinators, and facilitators to document qualifying information and need for direct education, policy, systems, and environmental programming.
  • Coordinate with program partners and satellite coordinators to identify class locations, transportation of participants and delivery of produce to participants if necessary
  • Schedule and deliver “lunch and learn” presentations to existing and potential partners across the South Georgia region
  • Review SNAP Ed programs to ensure adherence to PSE objectives including but not limited to outreach, registration, session implementation, curriculum development, data collection, and reporting.
  • Community outreach- Organize PRx program presentations using data from Tifton and Valdosta, with scaffolding provided by work in Atlanta

Program Evaluation

  • Pull programmatic reports and conduct ad-hoc analysis to monitor courses.
  • Informing programmatic improvements across the state to ensure compliance with Share our Strength’s guidelines and gold standards.
  • Maintains program tracking and outcomes tracking to support meeting the SNAP Ed outcome measures and objectives.
  • Utilizes the databased to provide recommendations for program improvements.
  • Maintain computerized and physical files for all program participants.
  • Aggregate data to prepare and submit reports of service activities requested by SNAP Ed and other funders on time.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree in Public Health preferred

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to make public presentations
  • Ability to work individually in a self-directed manner and lead team on group projects
  • Working proficiency of evaluation terms and concepts, ability to analyze data sets, and write reports based on data analysis
  • Ability to work with people from a variety of racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds, with various
  • lifestyles, sexual orientations, and of all ages, including professional chefs, social service providers, volunteers, and low-income participants.
  • Proficient knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, and Publisher) and ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for the purposes of conducting classes and attending community meetings
  • Ability to travel for trainings (some overnight)
  • Working vehicle, vehicle insurance, and valid driver’s license
