This is an hourly position. Pay range is $34-$36/hour.

PURPOSE: 

To be responsible for Costume Department administration including supervising and reporting on all financial aspects of the opera production related to the Costume Department. Works closely with the Costume Director, and Production Department personnel to effectively monitor and manage budgets.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of accounting, payroll, and accounts payable.
  • Knowledge of federal and state labor and employment and use tax laws interstate payroll taxes.
  • Knowledge of unionized workforce and Collective Bargaining Agreements helpful.
  • Ability to maintain accurate files and records including financial information.
  • Ability to compute compensation accurately and with close attention to detail and meet due dates and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency in computerized payroll systems.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment and initiative.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks, setting appropriate priorities and completing work on schedule with attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with artists, staff, the public, and volunteers in a professional, confidential, and tactful manner.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
  • Reliable daily attendance and punctuality.
  • Must perform the functions of the position in a safe manner.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum two (3) years of payroll/accounting experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare and process weekly payroll.
  • Process PANs/PAFs for Costume Shop.
  • Review Costume Shop, Wardrobe Department and Wig & Make-up Department time sheets for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain consolidated financial report for all Costume Shop, Wardrobe Department and Wig & Make-up Department expenses and prepare weekly financial reports.
  • Update and maintain benefit records for Costume Shop personnel.
  • Assist with preparation of Costume Shop, Wardrobe and Wig & Make Up budgets. Maintain Adaptive Program files for all drafts & updates for appropriate fiscal years budgets and reforecasts.
  • Enter invoices into computerized accounts payable system and balance against monthly general ledger reports.
  • Process wire transfer requests and prepare route check requests for vendor payments that have payment options.
  • Match sales receipts against monthly credit card statements and prepare corresponding transmittals for Finance Department.
  • Document and record all petty cash expenditures.
  • Process year end accruals for Costume Shop, Wardrobe and Wig Departments.
  • Produce Wardrobe and Wig Department yearly earnings and seniority report for Finance Department used to budget retirement dollars.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for phone coverage.  
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Provide varying reports as needed.
