Job Details
The Kinship Care Project provides representation to relative caregivers in custody, guardianship, adoption, benefits, and other related legal matters.
Responsibilities:
The attorney will be expected to interview clients for the purpose of preparing temporary guardianships, custody, adoption assistance, and handling a variety of matters for relative caregivers. The attorney will also be responsible for creating community education materials on various topics of importance to kinship care families and to assist in implementing the Kinship Care Project at GLSP.
Requirements:
Graduate of accredited law school; Georgia Bar membership, or willing to take next exam; demonstrated interest or experience in working with low income clients and/or on poverty law issues. Good oral advocacy, writing, and computer skills, and have a reliable car and driver’s license. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
The salary is $55,000+ depending on experience. The program provides generous fringe benefits, including paid holidays, paid time off including parental leave; birthday holiday; health, life, and long and short-term disability insurance; educational loan reimbursement up to $600 per month (after a $65 per month deductible); 403B with 3% match; Georgia Bar dues and CLE expenses. GLSP offers a hybrid work schedule that allows staff to work 2 days remotely subject to management approval and a probationary employment period.
