Residential Service Associate (RSA) is responsible for the daily watchful oversight of the Child Caring Institution of House of Cherith. The RSA is responsible for monitoring the residents’ needs and ensuring that appropriate services are being provided in order to meet those needs. RSAs provide leadership, direction, and mentorship for residents throughout the healing process and establish authority in the home while supporting the guiding principles of House of Cherith.

RSAs will report directly to the House Supervisor.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responding to residents' emotional needs and providing a nurturing home environment.
  • Ensure residents are supervised at all times by monitoring their whereabouts.
  • Overseeing residents' well-being within bedroom spaces/overnight with 15-minute bed checks.
  • Maintaining harmony by redirecting behaviors and sustaining the nightly "Quiet Time" schedule.
  • Supervising individual needs including academics, phone calls, laundry, nutrition, and meal prep.
  • Maintaining order and cleanliness by overseeing chores, and stepping in to clean where needed (Overnight staff will ensure the home is cleaned/prepped nightly).
  • Ensuring program rules and procedures are consistently applied.
  • Respectfully reinforcing socially acceptable behaviors (i.e. manners, eating habits, safety, bully-free),
  • Promoting self-esteem, healthy boundaries, good hygiene, and appropriate appearance.
  • Teaching thoughtful decision-making and encouraging positive coping skills.
  • Maintaining complete confidentiality for every resident, and modeling professionalism in all interactions.
  • Conducting house/room inspections, and (limited) body checks to secure potentially hazardous materials.
  • Monitoring interactions between residents.
  • Monitoring interactions between residents and non-staff members (anyone not employed by HOC Jr.)
  • Working as part of a team to identify needs and strategies to meet individual and program needs
  • Providing spiritual leadership, care, and availability.
  • Dispensing and logging medications for individual residents.
  • Providing transportation and supervision for off-site appointments and activities.
  • Completing Shift Notes/RSA checklist.
  • Notifying the House Supervisor of all medical concerns, incidents, and other emergencies.

Qualifications & Core Competencies

  • Must have Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, childhood education, education counseling and psychology, or a related field.
  • Must have current evidence of successful completion of a biennial training program in CPR and a triennial training program in first aid which have been offered by a certified or licensed healthcare professional within the first year of employment.
  • Must be able to able to pass any DHS/DFCS required background checks and 5 year MVR
  • General behavioral health acumen
  • Must have active driver’s license
  • Participate in ongoing education and training opportunities
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to build positive rapport with clients; client-centered focus

Shifts Available:

  • 12:00am – 8:00am Monday through Friday
  • 8:00am – 4:00pm Monday through Friday
  • 4:00pm – 12:00am Monday through Friday
  • 12:00am to 12:00pm Saturday and Sunday
  • 12:00pm to 12:00am Saturday and Sunday
