Position:                      Director of Major Gifts and Philanthropy

Reports to:                  Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer

Function:                                

Reporting to the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer, the Director, Major Gifts and Philanthropy will lead the development, implementation, and execution of a comprehensive fundraising program rooted in philanthropic best practices and philosophy to supplement an already strong donor base. They will build out new philanthropic aspects of the organization (grants and major donors). The right candidate should be comfortable pursuing visionary funding from corporations and foundations and working collaboratively with an established team.  This is an opportunity to be involved at the beginning of our new philanthropic focus and grow with the organization.

Qualifications:                    

  • Bachelor’s degree required; or higher, preferred.
  • 7- 10 years of demonstrated success in a similar role- CFRE Preferred A proven track record of successful major gifts fundraising from foundations, corporations and high net worth individuals.
  • Highly collaborative and flexible with the ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Passion, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
  • A professional and personal commitment to servant leadership.
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills and experience as a compelling relationship builder and fundraiser.
  • Creative writer and experience with grant writing.
  • Experience developing and executing successful major donor campaigns.
  • Solid project management skills Self-motivated and disciplined to regularly set and achieve work goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively delegate, manage and motivate other employees and outside contacts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM technology including Blackbaud required.
  • Proficiency in HubSpot CRM tool and its integration with Blackbaud a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours. The ability to travel is required; position is fully remote position.

Principal Activities:

  • Research, solicit and cultivate major corporate, foundation, and high net worth giving opportunities.
  • Develops and implements strategic fundraising plan to meet established annual corporate and foundation revenue goals.
  • Leverages CEO, Board, and senior leadership to cultivate and solicit prospective corporate and foundation partners. Initiates opportunities for CEO, Board, and senior leadership, to interact with corporate and foundation prospects and understand foundation and corporate interests and goals.
  • Use CRM technology to operationalize donor engagement.
  • Develop donor products and proposals, working closely with program, communication, and other key staff, to engage corporate and foundation donors in partnerships that support mission focused work.
  • Provides end-to-end capability in managing partnerships and their consistent stewardship including timelines and projected revenue.
  • Assists with stewardship initiatives for corporate partners by facilitating meetings between partners and CEO, senior leadership, and, when applicable, board members to ensure continuing partner cultivation and recognition.
  • Monitors and oversees corporate and foundation partnership agreements. Coordinates events with corporate partners including media coverage.
  • Represents VOA Southeast at meetings, conferences, and functions.
  • Develops and maintains an active list of contacts/prospects to interact with external sources for the advancement of the organization.
  • Leverages relationships with existing partners and donors to cultivate new donor relationships. Creates donor products as a cultivation tool.
  • Develops funding proposals, working closely with program and other key staff, for fully cultivated, “ready to ask” donor prospects.
  • Builds corporate relationships from timely cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Provides management with planning and coordination of grant development opportunities and coordinates/conducts all necessary follow-up activities.
