Villa International Atlanta is a 33-room residence founded in 1967 and is a Christian ministry that offers short-term residence to persons of all faiths and from all parts of the world.

Villa International is seeking a communications manager who is passionate about communicating the importance of promoting hospitality to researchers and medical professionals working in global health while staying at Villa International. This individual will play an integral role in helping Villa promote its brand, feature the work of our guests, and highlight engagement opportunities to a variety of key audiences, including board members, donors, volunteers and partners.

The successful candidate will possess strong strategic communications skills, including outstanding storytelling capabilities in writing for a variety of platforms such as the web, social media and video.

GOALS OF THE POSITION

This is a new position at Villa International and the main goal for the position is to create a new and comprehensive communications and social media plan for our main stakeholders:

  • Donors: assisting with development communications and campaign materials
  • Guests: creating social media posts and creating a new alumni group
  • Volunteers: reimagining our volunteer program and creating marketing materials

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience creating content for a variety of media platforms.
  • Experience developing and implementing communication campaigns to fulfill organizational strategic goals.
  • Experience building audiences and increasing engagement with content and developing fundraising communications for donors and potential donors.
  • High level of diplomacy and ability to interact with staff at all levels and work collaboratively with people of diverse skills, cultures and backgrounds.
  • Experience with website content management systems.
  • Basic graphic design skills with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and other platforms are preferred.
  • Experience working with a customer relationship management database.
  • Initiative to coordinate with internal and external partners and proactively communicate about a program or event.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • High level of individual initiative and creativity, including developing communications materials such as video, graphics and other materials for outreach.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in communications, ideally in a nonprofit or health environment.
  • Experience with communications for events, including planning and management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism or related field.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and implements a variety of strategic communication plans from start to finish for use with key stakeholder groups: guests and alumni, donors, and volunteers.
  • Works to develop a more formalized alumni network and creates communications to engage Villa alumni guests and volunteers.
  • Provides writing for a variety of communications, including blogs, stories and email outreach to highlight Villa guests, events, and programs. In addition, develops a wide variety of communication materials such as invitations, video, fact sheets, and graphics.
  • Implements activities across multiple media platforms including the Villa International website, social media networks, email communications and publications.
  • Will use communications to grow the number of contacts and subscribers in the Villa International database.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including donors, fellow staff, guests, volunteers and community partners to build brand awareness and ensure coordination of efforts and maximum impact.
  • Serves as project manager on a wide variety of communications initiatives.
  • Develops messaging and posts for Villa’s suite of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Assists with messaging and research for speeches and presentations, including the development of PowerPoint presentations, and works with Executive Director to find new audiences to speak with about Villa’s critical work.
  • Supports Villa’s media outreach efforts to journalists and social media influencers.

 

Hours: 20 hours/week-at least partially required to be on-site to interact with guests, staff and volunteers.

Salary: $30,000.00 per year.

Benefits: Forty hours of paid vacation, three personal/sick days and paid holidays.
