Position: Full-Time

 

FLSA Status: Exempt

 

Reports To: Chief of Development & Operations

 

Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000

 

Start Date: As soon as filled

 

Work Location: Remote within the United States, travel up to 20%

Caring Across Generations is a national organization working to make care more affordable and accessible at every stage of life, while making sure caregivers are treated with respect and dignity. Founded in 2011 by Sarita Gupta and Ai-jen Poo, our campaign is focused on creating change in three ways: organizing a powerful movement of the Caring Majority — the majority of Americans who are directly affected by the need for care; fighting for groundbreaking policy at the state and federal level; and changing hearts and minds through storytelling, pop culture interventions and cultural organizing.

 

 

About the Position: 

 

The Foundation & Grants Associate supports the Senior Development Director and the Individual Giving Manager with a variety of projects, including (but not limited to) drafting foundation proposals, supporting solicitation strategies, and conducting prospect research. In addition, the Foundation & Grants Associate serves as the Development Team’s point person for administrative and organizational tasks. 

 

The role directly reports to the Senior Development Director but works closely with all team members to ensure that the Development Team has all the information and materials needed for funder proposals and reports.

 

 

The role directly reports to the Chief of Development & Operations but works closely with all team members to ensure that the Development Team is well-positioned to maintain and scale its institutional fundraising efforts.

 

 

Grant Proposals and Reports                                                                                                     

 

  • Delegate tasks and proposals to Caring Across’ roster of grant writers 

     

    Create new attachments, including budget narratives, lists of funders, and lists of prospects 

     

    Support development writing by creating content used for grant applications, newsletters, appeals, and other external facing communication mediums as needed.

     

                                                                                          

 

Logistic Support & Database Management

 

  • Support relationships with prospective donors and existing partners, and interact via e-mail, telephone and in-person with institutional representatives.

     

    Coordinate and schedule prospect and partner meetings (through cold outreach, networking, etc.) for fundraisers and leadership via phone meetings, in-person meetings, etc.

     

    Maintain Salesforce to more efficiently track grant application deadlines, reporting deadlines, etc.

     

    Manage multiple timelines for various fundraising activities (including reporting and grant application deadlines). 

     

    Store and locate grant agreements and call notes in Salesforce.

     

 

Prospect Research & Initial Outreach                      

 

  • Conduct research and prospecting activities to identify new potential sources of funding (i.e. corporate, foundation and high net-worth individuals) and stakeholders that are aligned with our work. 

     

    Determine giving potential, giving history, decision makers, aligned areas of work, etc. 

     

    Draft outreach emails to prospective funders on  behalf of the Chief of Development & Operations & Executive Director. 

     

 

What great qualities do you possess?

 

 

  • You’re a motivated and experienced professional with excellent writing and communication skills, including creative visual and written communication methods.

     

    Knowledge of the philanthropy landscape (in particular foundations) and general project management experience.

     

    Proven ability to leverage storytelling to motivate key leaders.

     

    1-2 years of professional experience, with demonstrated success in supporting  foundation processes with a preference towards individuals with advocacy sector expertise.

     

    Excellent facilitation and oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare clear and concise reports and deliver formal presentations or training to senior management and other audiences.

Interview Process 

 

Our team is small but mighty, and each interview process varies just a little based on the specific hiring manager's needs. However, our standard timeline is as follows:

  • Week 1: Phone screen

     

    Week 2: Team interview via video call 

     

    Week 3: Paid work assignment 

     

    Week 4: Second round team interview via video call and, when applicable, final interview
