Leadership Greater Washington (LGW) is a nonprofit membership organization that unites visionary leaders from businesses, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations for dialogue and education about the region. We create the space and structure for these LGW leaders to collaborate on improving the quality of life in our communities and solving the region’s challenges. LGW serves more than 2,000 members from diverse backgrounds.

LGW is seeking a talented, organized, and creative Events and Programs Manager to implement and manage strategy, design, and logistics for the LGW events and programs. The programs include the Signature, Rising Leaders, and Youth Leadership Greater Washington (YLGW) programs. The events include program days, member programming, external partnership programming, board and committee meetings, and member events. The Events and Programs Manager will also be responsible for serving as project manager for the large-scale annual events including the Annual Meeting and the Celebration of Leadership gala. The Events and Programs Manager is a critical part of the LGW team, providing highly valued program and event leadership and support.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the program manager for all three leadership programs for the entire lifecycle of programs, by coordinating processes, deadlines, and project management milestones across team and partners
  • Work with Sr. Director of Programs to track and analyze program strategy, evaluation methods, and outcomes for all 3 leadership programs
  • Lead the logistics and project management of all events, including monthly program days, member events and meetings, and large-scale events including catering and venue liaison
  • Work with Sr. Director of Programs and Program Facilitators to coordinate content, program speakers, and agenda design for Signature Program
  • Plan content, coordinate program speakers, and agenda design for Rising Leaders and YLGW, working alongside the Sr. Director of Programs and Facilitators
  • Coordinate content, event speakers, and agenda design for all events
  • Develop and maintain the budget for all events & programs
  • Recruit and work with vendors for all events & programs
  • Work with Communications Manager and program partners to develop event promotional materials
  • Support the Director of Development and Membership with sponsor management and activation across programs and events
  • Track and analyze event metrics and suggest actions based on organizational goals & outcomes

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of proven experience managing and executing programs and events preferably for a nonprofit or membership organization
  • Experience working with early career professionals and youth
  • Experience planning and coordinating logistics for full day programs, meetings, and large-scale events including virtual
  • Demonstration of program management and/or implementation experience
  • Excellent project management, negotiation, customer service, communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively
  • Proven budget management skills Self-starter, naturally taking initiative and anticipating needs
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Experience with managing Zoom Meetings & Webinars

Working Arrangement and Compensation

Compensation for this role has been budgeted in the $75,000-$85,000 range. LGW offers employees health, dental insurance, short- and long-term disability and life insurances, paid vacation, sick leave, all federal holidays, expense reimbursement, and a matched contribution retirement plan. 

LGW’s administrative headquarters is in downtown DC. The LGW staff continue to work remotely primarily, although the full team is on-site during Program Days and events and travels throughout the region as needed. Outside of events, travel is required to visit and assess potential venues around the region.

LGW has a small full-time team of six and works closely with a 31-person Board of Directors. The budget is approximately $1.7 million, of which 47% is raised through program revenue.
