Overview of the Position
Reporting to the Director of Business Services, the AD supports the operation and success of the Business Services department. For more information on SoBro’s Business Development offerings, please go to https://www.sobro.org/business
The ideal candidate has prior experience in one or more of the following areas: supporting cross sector partnerships and engagement strategies, small businesses support, data analysis and public procurement. The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial-minded leader eager to lead a team and expand SoBro’s business support offerings.
Work will include consulting veterans, minority women and men through the various government certification processes including the SDVOSB, WOSB, SDB, 8A and MWBE certification process.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
• Provide comprehensive technical assistance and counseling to APEX ACELERATOR and EAC clients on matters including procurement, certification and access to capital.
• Assist clients with UEI, SAM, PASSPORT, PIP, vendor registrations and all certifications: i.e. DBE, MWBE, HUB ZONE, SB/DVBE, WOSB and pre-qualification application.
• Support delivery of APEX ACELERATOR and EAC special events/workshops and trainings.
• Engage in delivery of trainings designed to meet the needs of small businesses
• Provide proposal assistance, RFQ, and RFP for APEX ACELERATOR clients.
• Ensure reports and required program documents are submitted on time and accurately.
• Build new and existing partnerships to provide information/services to the small business community.
• Develop, coordinate, and deliver special events/workshops for the programs.
The Assistant Director is key to the effectiveness of the program in meeting its objectives and must have a solid understanding of the procurement and contract requirements. Knowledge and understanding of Federal, State and local government contracting policies and procedures gained from direct experience and/or formal training is a plus.

• History of providing technical assistance for bid opportunity identification, government data records research, solicitation/proposal review, quality assurance programs, local, state and federal contract regulatory guidance and contract clause provisions
• New York City, New York State and Federal programs and policies.
• Experience monitoring e-commerce searching for solicitations and new business opportunities.
Professional Requirements
• Strong communications and presentation skills, with significant experience pitching, presenting, and engaging audiences, leveraging metrics to demonstrate return on investment.
• Highly organized, with a systems-minded and data-driven approach.
• Professional maturity and a high EQ.
• Excellent change management skills, with an entrepreneurial approach and an appetite for working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, finance, or related field.

• SoBro’s offices are fully accessible via public transportation – adjacent to the #2 and #5 subway trains in the heart of the South Bronx’s commercial district.
