Its programs offer participants transformation through therapeutic services, education, life skills, and professional development. We are a Christian faith-based, non-profit organization with a rich and evolving culture seeking a Development Director to assist with relationship building, fundraising, and strategy.

Position Type: Full-Time; Salaried Exempt

Department: Development

Reports to: Deputy Director

Hours: 40 hours per week

Location: Administrative Offices with an active presence across all locations and out in the community making connections; Remote day offered

 

Position Summary: This role requires a visionary leader with an entrepreneurial spirit, a strategic mindset, and a demonstrated commitment to relationship building and fundraising through the support of key individuals and organizations. This person will accomplish these goals by creating and implementing a comprehensive plan, displaying tremendous public speaking skills, and an unwavering commitment and passion to achieve the vision and mission of the organization. 

 

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

Strategic Planning and Development: 

● Works with the Deputy Director to create a culture of philanthropy within the organization and with key volunteers and stakeholders, like the Board of Directors

●  A proven record of effective, engaging, and dynamic thought partnership, leadership, and collaboration with colleagues and volunteers

● Develop and execute the annual fundraising plan with the goal of raising nearly $3M annually 

● Generate new ideas that increase revenue and donor loyalty 

● Reports on program progress to senior management and the board 

● Oversees the development budget and monitors expenses 

 

Fundraising, Community Awareness, and Communications: 

● Proven track record of building relationships and closing five- and six-figure gifts from individuals and foundations

●Embraces a relationship-focused approach that cultivates and retains donors through weekly visits

● Communicates fundraising goals throughout the organization and equips team members to reach them 

 

Leadership and Management: 

● Passionately promotes the vision and mission of the organization, inspiring others to provide financial and other support 

● Manages the development team leaders and identifies staffing needs, interviews candidates, and onboards well-qualified personnel 

● Actively engages and energizes Wellspring’s volunteers, board members, staff, event committees, alumni, partnering organizations, and funders 

● Develops, maintains, supports, and takes direction from a dynamic Board of Directors, participating as required on various committees and encouraging active involvement where appropriate

Professional Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in nonprofit development
  • A documented history of successful fundraising in annual giving programs, major gifts, and corporate philanthropy; demonstrated results in personally cultivating and sustaining donor relationships
  • An enthusiastic leader capable of managing diverse teams to reach a common goal. Initiating and completing projects is right up your alley. You know how to make timely, effective, and ethical decisions. You embody the entrepreneurial spirit. You’re a self-starter who crafts creative solutions and opens doors to new donor relationships. 
  •  An active listener with a focus on donor needs and knowing how to identify mutual benefits. An excellent communicator with the ability to captivate audiences in writing and verbal communication. 
  • A resourceful individual with a can-do attitude; a self-starter, solution seeker that is strategic and a big-picture thinker
  • Exceptional management, leadership, and team-building skills
  • Administrative, organizational, and computer skills including use of email and Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Documentation of references (at least two professional and one personal) that attest to the person’s capability of performing the duties of the position and to the person’s suitability of working with or around children and vulnerable populations
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Minimum one year of relevant experience, preferably with vulnerable populations

Position Requirements:

  • Moderate travel among Wellspring Living locations and others in the Metro Atlanta area
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 25 pounds and have the ability to work for long periods at a computer
  • Satisfactory criminal history background check
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record
