Position Summary:

The Development Director will be responsible for building, expanding, and sustaining SnapCo's Development department by recruiting talented fundraisers to ignite support for our work and managing day-to-day operations of the development department. In this role you will  be identifying grant and corporate giving opportunities, managing grant proposals and applications, developing budgets, and cultivating solicitation strategies, to expand and deepen relationships with prospective and current funders. 

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the next phase of growth for a young, but successful nonprofit organization working to build community and achieve social change in metro Atlanta - one of the region’s most unique and culturally diverse communities. We are looking for a dynamic and organized individual to work alongside our Executive Director in strengthening our organization and increasing the impact of our work. 

The ideal candidate will have deep personal connections to Atlanta’s Black queer and transgender community and have a commitment to social justice. Further they will possess significant experience in individual/member donor cultivation,  financial planning and literacy, and non-profit grant writing and research skills. 

 

Essential Functions

Develop proposals, grant applications, reports and other correspondence for submission to individual prospects and current funders Assists in the development and preparation of the case for SNaP Co’s annual day of giving  Work with consultant or in-house staff to develop direct marketing appeals and submit grant applications/proposals Work with Marketing Staff and Consultant on look and feel for grassroots messaging Lead Giving Tuesdays and other major fundraising initiatives Identify and research new prospects, develop cultivation and solicitation strategies, and build relationships with prospective and current funders Schedule and organize donor cultivation meetings and events Integrate technology and social media with development messaging Develop call strategies and support solicitors Manage the annual SNaP Co renewal and solicitation process Responses to inquiries regarding fundraising / grants Manage donor acknowledgement, stewardship, and benefit fulfillment Manage accurate recording and maintenance of departmental records; prepare internal reports on a monthly basis Assist Executive Director in supporting the Board and Development Committee’s fundraising activities and events Coordinate with Executive Director, Board, and Executive Assistant for fundraising scheduling Exercises judgment, sensitivity, and discretion in the execution of assigned tasks Maintain an annual fundraising calendar that includes deadlines for submission as well as stewardship reporting Serve as part of SnapCo’s senior leadership team, providing strategic oversight of organization planning Education

 

Work Experience 

  • Minimum of five years experience in fundraising, preferably in a non-profit environment 

 

Knowledge and Skills

Must have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal effectively with a wide range of persons Excellent oral and written communications and organizational skills required Financial and Fundraising background in foundation cultivation, solicitation, grant writing, and donor research desirable Must be familiar with and have a good working knowledge of Google Suite (Calendar, Sheets and, Docs primarily), Microsoft Office Suite (Excel primarily), Raiser’s Edge (or other) fundraising software, and proficient in the use of Internet technology Must be able to travel as deemed necessary Have a successful track record soliciting major gifts from both individuals and organizations Be innovative in your approach to fundraising, welcoming of new technologies or tactics Be detail oriented and tireless in their efforts to improve Possess an intuitive sense of how to best communicate for different people and having a sense of humor Be results driven, articulating clear goals and requiring mutual accountability. Technical Requirements

 

Experience with a diversity of donor types (ex. individual small dollar, major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships). A proficiency with CRM databases (ex. Salesforce) is required, as well as a comfort with other online systems and tools, such as Zoom, Google Suites, Microsoft Office Suite, Slack, and Airtable Fluency with organizing and producing fundraisers and other donor events Ability to work independently and remotely, while also engaging regularly in-person with donors and prospects, staff and volunteers, and other stakeholders, as required.
