Department Overview

The Development team at CHRIS 180 is an eight-person team responsible for the philanthropic advancement and financial support of the organization, including but not limited to foundation grants, individual giving, fundraising, stewardship events, volunteering, and in-kind donations.

Position Description

Under the direction of the Director of Development, the Development Data Specialist will maintain the overall database integrity, donor information accuracy, and basic system functions, including maintenance across varying platforms. This position collaborates with the Development team and other departments to maintain and design efficient processes for improved fundraising strategies and donor experiences. This position will serve as the lead for implementing cross-database solutions, best practices, and reporting.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you:

  • Have experience serving as the subject matter expert on multiple platforms or are willing to do the research to become that person for us.
  • The primary platforms this person will use our Raiser’s Edge, RE NXT, Omatic Cloud and Importunate, Classy, MailChimp, Give Smart, Galaxy Digital, Gratavid, and Sage.
  • Like identifying gaps and pain points among these technologies and making recommendations to keep us efficient.
  • Love to learn and help others learn. This person will keep our team updated on our training in Raiser’s Edge and other platforms and manage user access.
  • Love to problem solve independently, with our development team, and cross-collaboratively with other teams within CHRIS 180, most frequently with our Finance team.
  • Are passionate about process improvement and love to get in the weeds with data and lists.

Other skills we’ll be looking for are:

  • Ability to set up and maintain automation to cut down on user input errors and keep our operations flowing smoothly.
  • Experience with event data management, ideally through the technologies we use – Give Smart and Raiser’s Edge.
  • Have produced or are interested in learning to produce complex giving reports and financial revenue reports and presented them to internal stakeholders.
  • Have knowledge and experience working across multiple platforms and their integration with Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM’s.

The day-to-day for this role will likely include the following:

  • Gift entry - Receive and enter all gifts into the database with appropriate coding; manage check, credit card, stock, online donation, and other gift processes. Post gifts to the general ledger.
  • Maintain Gift Coding – Determine the proper financial allocation for development revenue and maintain consistency across gifts.
  • Manage compliance with state and federal laws as it pertains to gift recordings, such as hard and electronic copies of donations, tax, and acknowledgment communication, and tax credit updates.
  • Uphold Data Integrity – Research and implement best practices for the development team to balance workload while maintaining an efficient database with long-term clarity and functionality.

  • Have 2-6 years of development and database experience, including Raiser’s Edge or comparable products/CRMs.

  • Continually learn in your area of expertise and share your knowledge with the team.
  • Can work independently as well as be a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside of CHRIS 180.

TRAVEL

10% of the time for events, and vendor visits as needed.

SCHEDULE

Typical office hours (Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 5 PM), night & weekend events as needed. Hybrid remote/in-person with a minimum of days required in the office.
