Responsibilities

Radio Board Operation/Production:

  • Must be available to work primarily Saturdays and Sundays in studio in midtown.
  • Oversee Automated Playlist operations.
  • Produce, edit, and broadcast self-recorded Program Guides daily, as well as any PSAs, Promos, or other readings assigned to you. Serve as back-up reader as needed.
  • Work with volunteers to ensure that their assigned programs are received and broadcast.
  • Evaluate volunteer performance.
  • Answer volunteer questions, suggestions, and provide feedback.

Administrative/Other

  • Abide by, uphold, and enforce GaRRS’ policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Answer phones and direct inquiries accordingly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

-High School Diploma or GED

-2-4 years of radio programming, engineering, production, and Board operations experience.

-Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

-Effective oral and written communication skills – must pass volunteer reader audition.

-Knowledge of or experience working with Digital Audio Workstations, such as Adobe Audition and Audacity.

Reporting:  Reports to the Production Manager. 

Salary and Benefits: $14/hour and 60 hours (7.5 days) of PTO per year. No health or retirement benefits included.  

Office Location: Primarily in-office on Saturdays and Sundays -- some remote work possible.

Volunteer readers from across Georgia record approximately 200 different programs each month including essential local information, local and national newspapers, popular books, and an array of magazines and quality-of-life programming. The programming is broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and accessed by using an Amazon Alexa Dot, special radio, through our online webstream, by telephone, or by using a mobile app.
