Job Details
The Accounting Clerk provides administrative support to the finance and accounting team. Reporting to the CFO, the AC will work closely with the Bookkeeper and Controller to ensure that financial statements are produced in a timely manner, accounting data is adequately maintained, and departmental processes and procedures run smoothly.

Responsibilities include:
Accounts Payable (40% of time)
- Enters accounts payable transactions in on-line bill-payment system
- Uploads data from bill-payment system and credit card system to accounting software
- Attaches appropriate documentation to transactions in accounting software
- Prints checks with the Controller
Clerical Support (30% of time)
- Compiles documents to support cash transfers and journal entries
- Downloads monthly statements from service providers such as property manager, benefits, and software providers
- Compiles documents to support annual audit
- Assists with finance team correspondence as needed
- Supports departmental scheduling needs
- Other data entry as needed
Accounts Receivable (10% of time)
- Enters cash receipts from bank deposits and online bank statements
- Attaches invoices, grant agreements, and other documentation to transactions in accounting software
Financial Reporting (10% of time)
- Runs reports in the accounting software as needed to support monthly reporting to clients, internal departments, and the board
- Runs weekly cash disbursement reports for the Grants department
Banking (5% of time)
- Downloads monthly bank statements and files accordingly
- Processes weekly bank deposits for courier pickup
CCF Staff Participation (5% of time)
- Participates in team meetings with the full staff or subsections of the staff as needed, and will, from time to time, be asked to serve on committees or in special groups that benefit the wider organization.
Candidates for the Accounting Clerk position typically have /are:
- Either formal accounting training and / or an accounting degree, or 2+ years of experience working in a similar role
- Able to demonstrate a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles such as the ability to read financial statements and write journal entries
- Knowledge of Fund/Non-profit accounting principles preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google sheets required
- Knowledge of other Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite applications
- Experience with scheduling meetings and various tools/platforms that support scheduling desirable
- Experience with accounting software, FundEZ experience helpful
- Knowledge of other software related to processing financial transactions, such as Bill.com, Gusto, and Divvy
- Familiarity with online banking, preferably in a business context
- Excellent attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks
