Classification – Exempt  

Reports to: Assistant Director, Compliance and Monitoring  

Salary: Salary range starting at $16,000 based on experience.

  • Childcare programs increase quality by providing nutritious meals and educational care to young children so they are ready for success in school and beyond; and  
  • Parents access quality childcare so they can attend college or succeed in the workplace.  

Job Summary: 

The Nutrition Program Consultant 1 is responsible for conducting monitoring visits and onsite training and technical assistance. An ideal candidate must be detailed oriented, organized and able to multitask. The position entails the use of a well-known industry software (KidKare), Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), and other platforms. 

Specific Responsibilities: 

Training and Technical Assistance 

  • Provide on-site initial training 
    • CACFP policies and procedures 
    • Nutrition requirements 
  • Ongoing evaluation of provider training needs 
  • Implement training and document the training as necessary 
  • Ongoing technical assistance 
  • Adapt training to individual needs of providers 
    • Based on education levels and learning styles 
  • Ensure providers have knowledge of program requirements in order to be successful 
  • Document all training and technical assistance 

Monitoring Compliance with CACFP Rules and Regulations 

  • Prepare for on-site visits by checking records of claiming patterns and problems identified at previous visits 
  • Follow review schedule and ensure all reviews are done in compliance with State and Federal time frames 
  • Review performance of providers at on site reviews and by off-site monitoring of monthly claim records 
  • Complete all aspects of the on-site review in accordance with Federal guidelines and State and CNP Policy, and document accordingly 
    • Meal types and times 
    • Meal components 
    • Meal counts 
    • Menu review and paperwork documentation 
    • 5 day reconciliation 
    • Enrollment verification 
  • Ensure foods are prepared and served following food safety guidelines and quality standards 
  • Provide menu suggestions to encourage variety in foods and preparation methods that are consistent with healthy practices 
  • Provide resource materials for menus, recipes, and meal planning 
  • Review and document the content of the entire review. Corrective action, if identified, is documented and follow up action is planned 
  • Menu concerns are documented for follow-up 

Required Experience:   

  • Three or more years of combined experience in working with groups of young children (birth-12 years of age) and supervision of adults in child care settings 
  • Knowledge of child care, quality systems, and national accreditation systems for child care programs.   
  • Experience with CACFP, preferred 
  • Knowledge of family child care and center regulations 
  • Knowledge of child development 
  • Excellent communication, organizational and decision-making skills 
  • Ability to keep accurate records 
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently 
  • Flexible schedule with occasional evening and weekend duties 
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license and personal automobile 
  • Exemplary ethics, professional manner and appreciation of the mission of QCC 

Work Environment: 

  • Frequent driving 
  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation required 
  • Consistently standing for two hours or more delivering training 
  • Sitting at the computer for hours 
  • Work occasional nights and weekends 
  • Bending, frequent use of hands, stooping, kneeling, and moderate lifting (at least 25 pounds) required 
  • Noise level in the work environment may be high at times 

Additional Information: This approximately 20-hours per week part-time position is based in northeast Georgia (including, but not limited to: Hall, Clarke, Elbert, Hart, Stephens, and Fannin Counties), operates remotely from home and reports to the QCC Atlanta office.
