Job Title: Executive Director
Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm, occasional evenings and weekends
Supervisor: Board of Directors, reports directly to Board Chair
Exemption Status: Exempt     
Salary: $80,000-$85,000 per year
Benefits: Employer contributes to medical, dental and vision insurance.  Employer pays life and disability insurance. Employee has the option to contribute to 401(k). This position is contingent on grant funding.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION                                                                                   
The Welcome Co-op is a cooperative of the four Atlanta-area refugee resettlement agencies and its mission is to build community together. The Welcome Co-op is a trusted advocate for new refugees helping to secure safe and affordable housing and working with community to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for Georgia’s newest residents. The Welcome Co-op sets up welcoming homes for our member agencies’ newly arriving refugee clients and provides them with clothing and shoes free of charge through our Shop of Hope.

The Executive Director is responsible for developing the vision and strategy for the Welcome Co-op. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for strategic planning, fundraising, partnerships, and community outreach. The Executive Director will oversee a period of growth and transition for the organization, supervising a move to a new facility and working with key staff to coordinate the opening of the Shop of Hope Thrift Store to the public.  This position overseas a team of four full time employees and 200+ volunteers, providing direct supervision to the Sr. Housing Manager.

 

  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                    

  • Responsible for planning, organization, and direction of the organization’s operations and programs.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of strategic plan.
  • Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan with specific and measurable goals and objectives for development of restricted and unrestricted funds, including annual fundraisers and other special events as applicable. Research and steer the networking with private funding opportunities and act as the focal person for the development of new proposals and donor cultivation.
  • Oversee the preparation of letters of inquiry, proposals, budgets and reports to local foundations and other potential donors.
  • Oversee and report on the organization’s results for board of directors.
  • Provide direction and supervision of team.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with donors, housing partners, community leaders and other key stakeholders.
  • Manage Board and Advisory Board Relations.
  • Work with the Board of Directors to provide management oversight, ensure adequate resources, and to develop and implement mission philosophy, policy, and new services.
  • Report regularly to the Board of Directors on programs, finances, annual budget, and other important issues.  Report to Board Chairperson on significant issues as they arise.  Encourage timely, engaged, mission-oriented board deliberations.
  • Implement long-term strategic planning and periodic reviews.
  • Oversee annual budgeting process and effective management of funds.
  • Retain a diverse, highly qualified staff and volunteers by providing career coaching, growth, and personal development for workers.
  • Develop and implement a communications strategy that includes media, social media, collateral, and other promotional materials.
  • Perform similar or related duties as assigned or directed by the Board of Directors.

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES                                                                             

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in International Development, Nonprofit or Business Management, Public Policy, Social Work (macro focused), or similar fields of study; and/or equivalent experience.
  • Graduate degree and/or Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) is preferred.
  • Proven work experience as a Non-Profit Executive Director or similar role.
  • Relevant training and/or certifications as a Non-Profit Executive Director.
  • Strong organizational, leadership and team-building skills with ability to promote productivity and efficiency.
  • Knowledge of volunteer recruitment and how to get individuals involved for the organization’s success.
  • Strong knowledge of financials and how to build financial documents for the Board of Directors.
  • Demonstrated record of foundation and donor relations with successful development of private foundation grant proposals
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with donors, volunteers, partner agencies, government officials, multi-cultural clients and colleagues on all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Experience coordinating multiple partners and consensus building toward common goal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (especially Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet research
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English


WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment and is an in-person role. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to work non-traditional hours including weeknights and weekends as necessary.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
