The Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health is here to unlock philanthropy to transform health for all kids and families, in our community and around the world. We support child and maternal health programs at two world-renowned institutions, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford and the Stanford University School of Medicine.

The Foundation was established in 1997 as an independent public charity to ensure a continued source of dedicated funding and support for the health and well-being of children. The Foundation is the sole fundraising entity for the children's hospital at Stanford and maternal and child health programs at Stanford's School of Medicine. Philanthropy supports clinical care, research, innovation and education to improve the health of children and expectant mothers, locally and worldwide.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Executive Development Administrator serves as a key support for the administrative and program needs of the leadership of the Principal Gifts team. This person is a highly organized, detail-oriented, strategic team player who can exercise strong judgment, take initiative, and successfully work on concurrent tasks. This person is an expert communicator, and both comfortable with and excited about working with various working styles, role groups and job functions. They are a curious and creative data-driven thinker and will be responsible for working within databases to create meaningful reports and analysis, ultimately informing donor strategies. They are proactive and innovative in developing systems, routines and approaches to support the work of the team overall.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE AND TEAM:

While this person will directly support the team’s Vice President and Senior Director (who are both senior gift officers and managers), they will occasionally be called upon to assist across the Principal Gifts team as needed. They will initially report to the Associate Director, Principal Gifts.

The Foundation’s Principal Gifts team works at the highest level with top donors (individuals and family foundations) to raise transformational gifts of $5 million+. The team partners closely with the Foundation President/CEO’s office, and frequently interacts with the hospital President/CEO’s office, the Dean of the School of Medicine’s office, and Foundation and hospital board members.

This is a hybrid position, with the expectation of working in the office or in-person whenever needed and on an average of 8 days per month. Please note that LPFCH has a Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy and that all new employees must submit proof of their Covid-19 vaccination at the time their employment commences. The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $105,000 annually.

 

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION:

The Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health is the sole fundraising entity for Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford and the maternal and child health programs at Stanford School of Medicine.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Portfolio and Database Management (~50%):

  • Draft confidential memos, donor correspondence, and other timely donor pieces (gift forms, emails, etc.).
  • Support the portfolios of the Vice President and Senior Director through strategic tasks (portfolio reviews, meeting summaries, event mailing lists, etc.).
  • Actively update and maintain the Foundation’s constituent relationship management database (Raiser’s Edge), the data reporting platform (Power BI), electronic filing systems, and content-sharing platforms, including the reviewing, tracking, and reporting of funds and gifts.
  • As assigned, conduct light research updates on prospects and donors.

Administrative Management (~40%):

  • Manage highly complex calendars and scheduling for the Vice President and Senior Director, including negotiating meeting requests, resolving scheduling conflicts with limited or no consultation, preparing the Vice President and Senior director for meetings, and preparing agendas, materials and briefings as needed.
  • Plan, coordinate logistics for, and assist in staffing meetings and donor tours, in partnership with cross-functional teams, external stakeholders, and vendors, while ensuring timely communications and confidentiality.
  • Complete administrative tasks with accuracy, including taking notes, assigning action items and next steps, tracking, and managing the team budget, preparing expense reports and other administrative tasks, as needed.
  • Build a network of relevant administrative and faculty contacts at the hospital and School of Medicine.

Special Projects (~10%):

  • Help coordinate and execute donor events, and additional assignments at the request of the Vice President and Senior Director. This may include managing invitation lists, coordinating logistics, managing briefings, and assisting at events as needed.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4-5 years of equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of administrative experience supporting senior-level executives.
  • Minimum 4-5 years of experience working in development or other related field within the non-profit sector - or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and products, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Planner, Forms, OneDrive, and SharePoint.

Preferred:

  • Experience in project management in a complex environment, preferably in healthcare or higher education.
  • Familiarity with or an eagerness to learn communication/publication software and content sharing platforms such as Adobe, Qwilr, InDesign, and Merlin.
  • Experience complying with HIPPA regulations.
  • Genuine interest in improving health and well-being for kids and families.

  • Strong ability, flexibility, and inclination to act as a member of a high-performing, highly collaborative team of development professionals.
