Position Scope and Impact

Supports the annual Community Development Planning and Programming for Georgia United and the GUCU Foundation. Coordinates Sponsorships, Community Activities, Programs and Charitable Contributions on behalf of Georgia United’s corporate office and branch locations. Aligns programs closely with Foundation Strategic Plans to reinforce the credit union message. Performs a wide variety of administrative functions under the direction of Director of Community Development.  Local event travel, including weekends, required.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for annual Community Development Budget – including planning, monitoring and logging expenditures, donation activity, donor communications, and reporting for both Georgia United and GUCU Foundation.
  • Coordinates tracking tools to evaluate and measure internal and external Foundation giving programs (i.e., team member payroll deductions, online giving, Day of Giving, etc.).
  • Support the Georgia United’s Foundation Advisory Committee and Board of Directors groups, including fundraising efforts. Coordinates community programs for the credit union, ensuring values / mission are maintained and goals met. 
  • Prepares marketing plans for each program, manages the program budget, timeline and execution of all aspects of the event.   
  • Supports credit union sponsorships to ensure that they support Georgia United’s Foundation mission and goals.  Answers related correspondence, represents the credit union at sponsor functions and arranges payments to sponsors, as required. Refers sponsorship advertising requests to media specialist, as appropriate.
  • Acts as credit union liaison with charitable fundraising partners and distributes funds collected from members, volunteers and employees, as necessary/assigned.
  • Partners with HR to promote volunteer service opportunities for seasonal programming and participation in automatic payroll deductions giving to all Georgia United team members.
  • Supports transition from private foundation model to public foundation model, including working with freelance grant writers and actively looks for ways to increase donations from outside Georgia United.
  • Resolves requests, questions, and problems courteously and professionally. Ensures that community communications are efficient and effective.
  • Ensures that community development public relations and marketing activities create positive member, prospective members, and community responses. Provides support to development of annual plan/calendar of community development activities for the local markets.
  • Provides community development information for external social media channels and others, as appropriate.
  • Supports joint efforts of Marketing and Community Development to ensure program success.  Attends meetings as requested.
  • Partners with department Director to develop community development guidelines, policies, procedures and online sponsorship request process.
  • Assists, serves and informs branches and related departments of area activities as required.  Answers questions and resolves related issues and concerns.
  • Identifies current and new media partners to build relationships and communication channels to be used for promoting, informing and recapping community initiatives.
  • Establishes ongoing communication and relationships with communications personnel at employee partner groups. Leverages media outlets to increase brand awareness as well as public knowledge about community initiatives.
  • Develops knowledge of public and media relations best practices through attending webinars, reading article, etc., to be used for overall company and media purposes.
  • Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant concerns.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • College degree with emphasis in Marketing or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Public Relations, Fundraising or Event Coordinating.
  • Knowledge of Not-for-Profit or Foundation operations. Understanding of public relations and media processes.
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Internet, and Email.
