Description: The Digital Engagement Manager is responsible for managing and advancing Welcoming America’s online presence. This includes our websites, social media accounts, and email marketing platforms, as well as signature campaigns with heavy social media components.

On any given day, this role manages Welcoming America’s social media feeds, maintains the organization’s websites, conducts progress checks on projects and campaigns, sends email campaigns, creates communications toolkits for external use, and analyzes our digital metrics.

By leveraging digital content and tools to engage and activate members, donors, partners, and the general public, this position serves as an effective messenger, team player, and cheerleader for the organization in the digital space.

Responsibilities

Manage & advance digital platforms and assets (50%)

  • Social media: monitor, post, and engage others through Welcoming America’s social media accounts, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram, while keeping a pulse on engagement trends and opportunities.
  • Website management: Manage the day-to-day updates to Welcoming America’s web properties, including welcomingamerica.org, cerifiedwelcoming.org, and welcominginternational.org. Work with contractors on technical updates and maintenance, identifying opportunities to enhance website functionality; manage our domains and troubleshoot issues
  • Email marketing: own all aspects of email marketing for the organization, including the monthly newsletter, drip campaigns, and news announcements. Manage lists and subscriber data.
  • Analytics: Analyze our digital metrics and provide recommendations for improving our online presence
  • Digital asset management: serve as the keeper of our photos, videos, and branding assets while coming up with ways to improve them. Work with internal and external stakeholders on providing digital marketing needs, including but not limited to: graphics for webinars and presentations, communications toolkits, images and video requests

Project and campaign management (40%)

  • Manage special projects that have a digital component, ie. informational videos
  • Own the digital marketing aspects of Welcoming America’s signature campaigns and events, including the Welcoming Interactive and Welcoming Week, through communications toolkits, conference slideshows, sponsorship packets, and more.

Professional development (10%)

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve skills and knowledge in the above areas, including webinars, certifications, and conferences.

Qualifications:

  • Essential Skills Proven track record of developing and amplifying campaigns via stories, content partnerships, and outreach
  • Demonstrated knowledge of website content management systems (ideally WordPress or Drupal)
  • Fundamental understanding of email marketing best practices and marketing automation tools (ex. Mailchimp, Hubspot, etc.)
  • Experience using social media scheduling and reporting tools (ex. Hootsuite, Sprout, TweetDeck).
  • Understanding of digital analytics and ways to use data to calibrate campaign goals and outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience using graphic design tools, understanding of best practices for web and print, and working with outsourced graphic designers
  • Strong attention to detail in all areas mentioned above

Desired Knowledge:

  • Basic understanding of search engine optimization (SEO), HTML and CSS
  • Knowledge of Facebook Business Manager and Google Adwords is a plus.
  • Interest in immigration, refugees, inclusion, equity, and/or community building is strongly preferred.

Experience Candidates must have a background in communications, journalism, media, marketing, or related fields, preferably within the nonprofit sector.

3-4 years in a consistent communications related role, with demonstrated experience in digital platforms

Experience working with a remote team

Other Requirements

  • Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a brief writing test.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is required for any candidate planning to work out of our Decatur, Georgia headquarters and/or traveling on behalf of Welcoming America.

Work Environment Welcoming America operates in a fully remote work environment, with the option to work onsite if based in the Atlanta area. To work remotely, you must have access to a reliable internet connection. A laptop will be provided.

May be based anywhere in the U.S. Occasional travel may be required.
