Company

Second Wind Dreams® is an internationally known, nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the perception of aging through the fulfillment of dreams and the offering of educational programs including its flagship, sensitivity training, the Virtual Dementia Tour®.

Second Wind Dreams® was founded in 1997. It's name derived from a novel of the same name by P.K. Beville, a geriatric specialist who wrote about the wonderful, colorful and sometimes hysterical people who live and work in nursing homes.

Since 1997, Second Wind Dreams has become involved in thousands of eldercare communities in several countries. Weaving thousands of dreams from the simple to the sublime, the mission of Second Wind Dreams is simple -- to change the perception of aging through the fulfillment of dreams and the offering of innovative educational opportunities to caregivers and communities.

Second Wind Dreams is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation governed by a Board of Directors that provides the guidance and support necessary to continue its mission and expand its impact. Financial support for Second Wind Dreams comes from individual contributions, memberships, corporations and eldercare industry associations. Additional revenue is generated as a result of Second Wind Dreams' educational program, the Virtual Dementia Tour®. The Virtual Dementia Tour is a scientifically proven method designed to increase sensitivity toward those with dementia.
