As the Director of Engagement and Partnerships you will build, strengthen, and implement strategies that expand the reach, diversity and impact of people and institutions coming together to drive structural and narrative change. You are part galvanizer and cheerleader, part organizer and weaver, part navigator, translator and evangelist, a strategic visionary able to design and deliver on plans aligned to FFI’s North Star. This requires relentless individual outreach and networking, community building among allies and producing events and a variety of products with partners and allies for larger audiences as a door into the work.
You will lead, develop, learn from and virtually supervise a portion of the Engagement and Partnership team. You will be responsible for strategy development and implementation; improving systems, processes, and outcomes; building and sustaining momentum across a broad scope of people, communities and institutions; shepherding and expanding a pipeline of partnerships and alliances; and building dedication and accountability in furthering progress towards our North Star—a country where everyone has a fair shot at wellbeing.

Position Details, Compensation and Benefits
Classification: Full-time, Exempt, 40+ hours per week
Location: Remote, United States
Work Hours: 40+ per week, flexible schedule with the ability to respond to urgent requests that may fall outside of regular business hours
Annual Salary: $125,100 to $155,000
Travel Requirement: This position requires travel up to 35%
Reports to: Chief of National Engagement and Partnerships
Supervises: A portion of the Engagement and Partnerships team

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Partnership Strategy, Planning, & Implementation
- Lead vision, strategy, design and implementation of key initiatives and partnerships; surfacing, documenting and sharing lessons learned in order to improve outcomes.
Lead and manage partnerships (formal and informal) that help individuals, institutions, systems and communities in using a wellbeing orientation and wellbeing design principles to understand pressing societal problems differently and craft new solutions at the level of policy and culture.
Strategically navigate relationships and processes within a variety of agencies, institutions and systems, relying on influence, not authority, to leverage action and change.
Developing Partner Pipeline & Building National Movement Momentum
- Serve as a key external face and voice for the organization at relevant meetings, conferences and events, influencing others to establish constituencies striving for equitable access to wellbeing and expanding the broader wellbeing movement.
Distill important information quickly, efficiently and to the right people, with a knack for building connections among the necessary individuals, organizations and systems while managing up and down.
Create, lead and support cohorts, communities of practice, significant partnerships and networks, sparking action and accountability aligned with change strategies.
In partnership with the Communications team, expand visibility, reach and change by producing events, developing products, resources and tools showing that our human drive for wellbeing is the connective tissue that spans boundaries, compelling a broad audience to rethink assumptions and take different actions.
Engagement & Partnership Team Management
- Help translate organizational mission, strategy and high-level goals into action, supporting staff in project planning, design, implementation and outcomes assessment.
Initiate rhythm for supervising in a virtual environment, prioritizing relationships, building an employee/supervisor and team culture sharing regular and candid feedback and learning from one another, while also regularly appreciating and celebrating successes.
Establish individualized rhythms of support and coaching with each of your employees to: empower continuous learning and development, ensure the integration of FFI values into daily work, support employees in achieving big goals and allow employees to quickly act on windows of opportunity, encouraging revaluation and the shifting of priorities when necessary.
Model and support team and FFI staff in leveraging software and technology.
Prioritize ongoing learning and personal development.

- Passion for FFI’s mission, including social justice and social change to upend inequities.
5+ years experience in senior leadership position(s) that involve management of multiple complex projects and urgent priorities, while demonstrating an ability to navigate through changing and unpredictable circumstances.
5+ years experience managing multiple staff members and creating high functioning, collaborative, teams.
Able to successfully lead, learn from and develop a team of people with diverse skill sets, experience, passions, priorities and needs.
Experience leading successful movement building efforts on a national scale or designing and leading national campaigns that require the energy and action of diverse stakeholders and have resulted in tangible outcomes.
Deep experience building external relationships and partnerships with a diverse set of changemakers and stakeholders that span boundaries, fields and sectors.
Experience designing, leading and facilitating cohorts or communities of practice that lead to individual and collective action, creation of products and tangible outcomes.
Influential public speaker, skilled in changing mindsets and motivating others to action.
Excellent project management skills moving ideas to implementation, tracking progress and outcomes, budget management, pivoting plans as necessary, and presenting key insights and learnings internally and with external audiences to create national level change and impact.
Curious, creative and experimental with a learning mindset.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a virtual, small team environment, able to build authentic relationships with diverse stakeholders while working remotely.
Foundational knowledge of the history and realities of systemic racism, intersectionality and oppression in the United States, fluency in the core precepts of diversity, equity and inclusion and can apply DEI skills in real-world situations while continuing to learn and grow personally and alongside FFI staff
