Purpose of the Job:

Under the direction of the Executive Pastor, the Creative Pastor is responsible for helping people EXPERIENCE God, ENGAGE in the community, be EQUIPPED for ministry, and EMPOWERED to serve. In this role, the primary focus will be to partner with and support the Executive Pastor by ensuring all ministry experience are creative, relevant and cutting edge.

The Creative Pastor is committed to Christian principles, oversees and approves service planning designed to address the spiritual and practical needs of The dReam Center Church of Atlanta’s partners, and monitors and drives performance around tdRc’s 7 Pillars to ensure overall sustainable health of the church. 

The Creative Pastor will directly supervise four key staff members: Worship Pastor, A/V Tech Director, Marketing & Events, and oversee the following downstream ministries:

Additionally, the CP will be the primary liaison between the Senior Pastor and Executive Pastor to the ministerial team and will streamline and filter communications, objectives and directives required for effective ministry.

Purpose of the Job:

The Creative Pastor is responsible for overseeing the entire creative catalogue for the church, its programs, and its environment. This person leads the Worship Team, including the worship team members, singers, projection, and A/V, in the weekly execution of our Sunday services, morning prayers and other church events requiring worship. This individual will also create and launch a progressive variety of compelling media content, including videos, testimonials, worship streaming and social media posts. The Creative Pastor will work closely with the Worship Pastor, Lead Pastor and Executive Pastoral team, and establish and execute the church’s brand strategy. This person will also partner with the Lead Pastor to coordinate weekly worship content, including Sermon series, audio/video technology, web presence. This position requires a high level of passion, energy, creativity, and proven effectiveness. The director also has a complimentary scope of administrative duties related to Planning Center, Sunday slides, equipment inventory, and other worship related administration. This individual loves beauty, have an eye for aesthetics and are naturally creative.

Description:

Worship Service Leadership

  • Under direction of the Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor, selects and produces all music, video, and multimedia content for Sunday services, online presence, and all other church functions
  • Regularly reviews and refreshes church’s online and social media presence.
  • Coordinates all graphic design for Worship service needs, including holiday, social,and adhoc church events.
  • Produces and delivers all video content, including Sermon and service videos and adhoc projects.
  • Operates or supports video projection for Sunday services and all other church functions.
  • Develops and produces special creative content for church projects/events, including testimonials, films, and open mic functions.

Creative Direction

  • Ensures a high level of quality and consistency of the brand and creative experience across all ministry programs, communication, and physical spaces.
  • Engineers and implements the vision for the creative brand with input from the Lead Pastor, Pastoral and Leadership Team.
  • Administrate the creative planning systems that the church needs to be able to regularly produce creative content.
  • Champions the spirit of creativity throughout all functions of the church.
  • Leads the creative processes by which ideas flow from concept to execution.
  • Leverages creative skills of membership and inspire others to share brilliant ideas, apply their unique skills, and participate in the creative ingenuity of the church.
  • Drive the church’s commitment to telling compelling stories during services, education and special events.

Pastoral Leadership

  • Partners closely with Lead and Executive Pastor to develop, structure, and lead the tactical execution of the following teams and weekly rhythms Worship Pastor AV Tech Director Marketing Director Events Director
  • Organizes, trains, recruits, schedules and auditions performing and support volunteers for Sunday services and church events.
  • Effectively manages the worship team budget in accordance with purchasing guidelines
  • Provides pastoral guidance Scripturally, in the fullness of the Spirit and pastoral support to build up, coach, and minister to the worship team members
  • Provides functional and spiritual oversight and accountability to the Worship team members.
  • Acts on behalf of the church in pastoral leadership for our partners when needed.

Administrative Support

  • Performs various administrative duties related to the Worship/Creative Teams
  • Supports other functional areas within the church as needed

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in music and worship direction, video production and event management (preferably in a church/ministry setting)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent additional professional experience required. Degrees in music, production, or theology preferred.
  • Experience in project management and effective team management
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel Some experience in Pro Presenter, Wirecast, One Stream, and Planning Center needed
  • Ability to analyze and revise operating practices to improve operational efficiency
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Proficiency in organizational skills and dedication to completing projects in a timely manner.

Experience and Knowledge Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience.
  • Ten years of ministerial work, including five years of experience in a non-profit environment, preferably with human services experience and three to five years as a lead minister in a congregation. 
  • Demonstrated skills in pastoral care, ministerial education, and collaborative working relationships. 
  • Leadership abilities and strategic thinking in order to design, plan, organize and implement ministry goals through collaborations and communication with a broad and diverse audience. 
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with a variety of ministry issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Person of prayer and spiritual maturity; demonstrated commitment to social justice and evangelism; ability to inspire others to pastoral leadership, commitment and action. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and timeliness is a must.  
  • Strategic research skills and analytic insight to interpret reports that provide the ability to make decisions about gaps and strategic opportunities.  
  • A servant leader who is willing to pitch in where needed, including days in the office reviewing reports, running a staff meeting, etc.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Leadership/Leadership Development

  • Coach Direct Reports to discover, develop and deploy leaders.
  • Develop and promote training and development opportunities for staff and volunteer leaders.

Pastoral Care

  • Oversee the pastoral care needs of the congregation and, as necessary, share with other ordained and lay ministers in hospital visitation, home visits, counseling, marriages and funerals. 

Administration

  • Facilitate weekly 1 on 1’s with your Direct Reports using the Pulse Report as a framework.
  • Create and maintain a PULSE Report to be shared with your Direct Report weekly.

Ministry Effectiveness

  • Monitor the spiritual pulse and growth of the congregation through review and accountability.

Evangelistic Thrust

  • Ensure that all ministry events have an evangelistic thrust and track data. 

Fundraising/Budgeting 

  • Track ministry budgets and reports for assistance in ongoing financial controls and annual budgeting.
  • Ensure teams have a plan to raise money to support and offset the cost of ministry events.
