Callanwolde Fine Arts Center’s Summer Camp is seeking creative instructors to deliver a fun, dynamic fine arts camp! Instructor openings available for Creative Camp (ages 5-12) and Teen Summer Studios (ages 13-18).

Schedule: 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, Noon - 1pm lunch break. 

2023 weeks include June 5-9, June 12-16, June 20-23, June 26-30, July  10-14, July 17-21, July 24-28, and July 31- August 4. You do not have to be available all weeks, but if you commit to a week please plan for a M-F for that week.

Work Location: Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, Metro Atlanta, GA

Duties: 

  • Deliver high-quality fine arts education in a way that is accessible for young people.
  • Develop creative learning experiences for Art Campers daily! Lesson plans should cover Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media, Collage, Printmaking, and more. Lessons are focused on Big Ideas, artistic processes, and student choice. Theme weeks are set for 2023 and will be disclosed during the hiring process.
  • Share lesson plans and materials lists with the Art Education department and Camp Managers in April 2023. 
  • Basic preparation of art materials, managing art material supply, and keeping studio space clean.
  • Assist campers with creative projects and basic needs throughout the day. 
  • Supervise campers as they rotate to/from movement activity, snack breaks, and transition to lunch time. Supervise campers during snack breaks. Camp Assistants will help with these duties as well.

 

Additional Job Requirements:

  • Fine arts and education experience or equivalent coursework required.
  • Candidates must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 to ensure compliance with enhanced health and safety protocols and to keep yourself and others safe and free from illness.
  • Candidates must be able to satisfactorily pass a background check.
  • Experience with elementary-aged children OR teens strongly preferred.

DeKalb County now owns and maintains the property today, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Callanwolde Foundation has operated the Arts Center since 1983.
