Summary
The Development Associate, Foundation Relations generates financial support for the Grady Health Foundation through research and planning necessary to develop grant proposals and manage grant awards. This position engages in cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities designed to support the mission of Grady Health System.


Key Responsibilities
• Researches, writes and submits proposals for Grady funding priorities to foundations and other institutional donors
• Drafts grant reports on the usage of funding from foundation and other institutional donors
• Assists with the management of the grant reporting calendar
• Helps develop and maintain reports to track institutional giving and activity for fundraising campaigns and for individual hospital departments, as needed
• Identifies new funding opportunities to match Grady priorities
• Reviews funding agency guidelines to ensure each proposal correctly conforms to agency requirements
• Reviews project/program budgets for which funding is sought to make certain they meet the requirements of grant-makers
• Collaborates with the GHF finance department to monitor post-award accounting and tracking activities
• Keeps in contact with grant-making organizations during their review of a submitted grant in order to supply additional supporting material
• Manages grant program routing forms and hospital department approval process
• Participates in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of foundation, corporate and individual donors
• Assists in stewarding departments within the hospital to maintain grant relationships
• Works closely with the Foundation marketing manager to provide communications and social media content as it relates to foundation and institutional donors
• Enters proposal data and related donor activity into the Raiser’s Edge database
• Acquires and maintains knowledge and understanding of Grady in order to better comprehend projects and programs for which grants will be sought
• Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Five (5) years’ experience in grant writing for nonprofit organizations
• Experience using CRM/Database Management platform; Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge Preferred
• Strong descriptive writing skills and a high-level command of grammar and spelling
• Knowledge of the Atlanta foundation/corporate giving community
• Ability to work independently to achieve individual goals, while being able to strategize and collaborate with team members to accomplish organizational goals
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
