About the Role

MENTOR’s national Impact Team drives high quality mentoring relationships by developing research, tools, trainings, and learning opportunities for mentoring professionals, integrating youth mentoring strategies into education and workforce systems, and by launching and supporting local field leadership in the form of state and regional Affiliates. MENTOR seeks proactive, collaborative and detail-oriented Program Associates to join our growing team. The goal of this position is to provide general administrative support to ensure we deliver quality services to staff practitioners, mentors and youth across the nation.

Through excellent customer service, outreach and content creation, Program Associates support mentoring program professionals to access resources and information to improve the quality of their programs. One focus area of the role will be to support the National Mentoring Resource Center (NMRC), a project funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). The NMRC delivers high quality, evidence-based research-to-practice resources, tools and technical assistance to mentoring programs across the nation. The Program Associate will lead efforts to ensure MENTOR’s web-based program mapping and database tools contain up to date and accurate information.

Additionally, Program Associates provide administrative support to MENTOR’s Program Team by coordinating team check-ins, drafting website content and communications for internal and external use, and providing logistical support for professional development events. This includes conducting outreach to field experts to curate innovative web content and e-newsletters for mentoring practitioners, as well as responding to general inquiries from mentoring professionals, mentors, and prospective partners to help engage them in MENTOR’s work.

This role reports to the Impact Team’s Program Directors and works closely with the Training, Products and Technical Assistance teams.

 

Qualifications:

This said, we are most likely to be interested in your candidacy if you can demonstrate the majority of the qualifications and experiences listed below.

  • 1-3 years of professional work experience (part-time, work study or internship included) in related/relevant fields
  • Experience coordinating projects using complex systems involving many stakeholders
  • Highly organized with strong deadline management, sense of responsibility and accountability, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a diverse set of stakeholders, including external partners, vendors and contractors
  • Experience with or eagerness to learn how to develop website content, including blogs, newsletters and online copy.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams preferred
  • Experience working with CRM a plus (MENTOR uses Salesforce and Dynamics)

We aim to have phone interviews in late January with select candidates followed by Zoom interviews with the hiring manager. A few finalists will have a virtual interview day with other staff and leadership at MENTOR followed by a holistic reference check process. Expected start date is March 2023.

This full-time, exempt position is hybrid-remote. Candidates must live in the northeast United States with a preference for greater Boston, MA/Providence, RI areas. For candidates who are based where MENTOR National has offices (Boston and Washington D.C), employees work in the office 2 days a week or 8 days a month.

Compensation and Benefits
