JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:             Chief Development Officer
Reports To:         Chief Executive Officer
FLSA Status:       Exempt

Direct Reports:     1
Department:        Development

Summary: Solicits, coordinates and secures corporate sponsorships and donations for five state games and competition events as well as the Dunwoody Country Club and other assigned duties by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Plans, organizes, procures, implements, evaluates and meets revenue goal for the following high-level events:  Responsible for sponsorship revenues totaling approximately $499,000 for State Games and Competition Events including, but not limited to:  Indoor Winter Games (January $92,000), Summer Games (May $192,000), Horse Show (Oct $20,000), Corporate General ($175,000), Misc. ($20,000).
  • Annually coordinates sponsor recognition from monthly e newsletter and website.
  • Year-end giving campaign through website and eblasts.
  • Account Manager for corporate sponsors of $10,000 and up.
  • Responsible for Foundation proposals $5,000 and up.
  • Responsible for creating and distributing sponsor stewardship reports for state games and competition events. 
  • Oversees the creation and distribution of the SOGA Annual Report.
  • Responsible for the presentations related to sponsorship (i.e., prospects, cultivation, re-signs, lunch-n-learns, etc.).
  • Presents Special Olympics Georgia mission through public speaking engagements. 
  • Works with auditor annually.
  • Attends and participates in program organizing committees. 
  • Support State Games and events as needed.
  • Attends Fall, Winter, and Summer State Games/Horse Show.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education/Experience:
College degree with 3 years development/financial experience.  Special Olympics, sports, special events background a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages Development Manager. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; recognizing and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems; provide team member performance reviews; and authority/ability to terminate employment.

Physical Demands:
The employee is occasionally required to lift 50 pounds or more.
