What Does an Awesome Family Advocate Do?
As a Family Advocate at Mothers Advocacy Project, you will provide assistance to clients with basic stability factors for establishing and/or maintaining healthy families. These stability factors will be indicated in the client’s custom care plan, which is created in a collaborative approach of including the Client, Family Advocate, Therapist, and Clinical Director. Your impact as a Family Advocate will enhance client relationships and client retention. You will have the opportunity to support MAP’s vison of breaking the intergenerational cycle of maltreatment and trauma in women-led families.
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will:
- Partner with clients in a one-on-one setting to support and educate them in basic stability life skills.
- Complete Pre-Phase Assessments and Meetings with clients to determine eligibility and care plan for client.
- Make special service referrals for substance abuse, psychiatric care and parenting classes.
- Be tasked with working with clients to help them identify housing and the items needed to make their house a home.
- Offer various levels of support to inform clients of job fairs and career development opportunities.
- Provide reporting on accomplishments and in-program progress by the client.
- Provide up to date partnership reports, in by keeping MAP’s resource list.
- Facilitate and support clients to enroll in GED classes.
- Attend monthly staff meeting and all necessary trauma trainings.
- Attend weekly clinical staff meeting.
- Participate in monthly 1-on-1 with Clinical Director.
- Complete staff self-appraisals a minimum of 1x per calendar year.
- Attend all necessary developmental trainings for the position.
Qualifications For Consideration:
- Masters or Clinical Degree in Social Work, or similar field.
- At least 1 - 3 years experience working with similar a population.
- Proven performance of strong verbal and written communication.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Completion of trauma-informed training.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships while delivering results in an agile organization.
- Submission of cover letter and resume, including three references.
