PR MARKETING SPECIALIST

Second Wind Dreams® (SWD®) is an internationally known nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the perception of aging through the fulfillment of dreams and the offering of educational programs including its flagship, sensitivity training, the Virtual Dementia Tour®.
 
Position
Reporting to the Director of Development, the PR (Public Relations) Marketing Specialist will organize and oversee PR activities and ensure effective communication with partnerships, media and the public to cultivate a positive company image.  Your work will be instrumental in the development and execution of PR, marketing and development plans and strategies.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Participate in the development of PR campaigns and media relations strategies
  • Collaborate with SWD staff and maintain open communication with all Department Heads
  • Create, edit and/or update promotional material and publications such as brochures, flyers, photos, and videos
  • Draft and distribute press releases to targeted media
  • Help organize and execute SWD events (e.g. Second Wind Dreams Month, conferences, fundraisers and outreach, Gifts of Light)
  • Seek opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising
  • Address media inquiries and refer to the appropriate SWD staff member
  • Build and maintain communications with media contact
  • Track media coverage and follow industry trends
  • Prepare and submit PR reports
  • Participate in creating and/or editing newsletters, speeches, articles, and videos
  • Coordinate photo and video opportunities
  • Manage social media sites such as Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook and engage with followers
  • Manage MailChimp data base and e-blast distributions
  • Manage SWD YouTube videos
  • Help source and coordinate speaking opportunities such as keynote and media interviews for SWD founder
  • Create Marketing and Advertising Campaigns
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism or a related field
  • Preferred experience in a PR/Marketing role including the management of media relations (online, broadcast and print)
  • Desktop Publishing and/or graphics and web design experience a plus
  • Photography and or video experience  a plus
  • Background in researching, writing and editing publications
  • Proficient in MS Office, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram and MailChimp
  • Familiarity with video/photo editing
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • An analytical mind with attention to detail
  • Well organized, ability to work under pressure and with deadlines
