About the Position

As Executive Director, you will be an integral member of our team as you plan, coordinate, implement and manage the fund development and community outreach in the region.  The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of regional development and administration, to support the program functions in accordance with national management.

A typical day as an Executive Director may include:

  • Coordinating with the Chief Development Officer, to develop and implement a comprehensive regional fundraising plan; achieves or exceeds goals
  • Empowering and supporting the regional board, chapters, and volunteer group fundraising and outreach efforts
  • Identifying, cultivating, closing, and stewarding various donor opportunities and relationships.  Traveling throughout the region as needed to do so.
  • Developing and working with the regional board
  • Advancing the Canine Companions’ mission, vision, and core values by building relationships with members of the community
  • Recruiting, managing, and retaining a high-performing team. 
  • Modeling and inspiring exemplary teamwork, community, compassionate service and excellence. 
  • Collaborating with team members to ensure that all departments interact, celebrate, and train together as one team Working with National management to develop the annual regional income and expense budget 

EXPECTATIONS:

To be successful in this position:

Must Haves:

  • A minimum of seven years of professional fundraising and/or business development experience in a mission driven environment with proven ability to secure charitable gifts of $100,000 and above. 
  • Proven ability to attract and optimize relationships with community, corporate and foundation leaders, donors and volunteers. 
  • A minimum of five years of demonstrated success in staff leadership and management with knowledge of fundraising principles and practices. 

Nice To Haves:

  • Experience in event planning and organization and volunteer management preferred. 
  • CFRE preferred.

SCHEDULE: Full Time

RATE OF PAY: Starting at $130,000 annually
