Reports to: Movement Infrastructure and Operations Executive

Salary: $88K - $95K, with full health benefits for employee and dependents, employer-funded retirement plan, remote work stipend, and 28 days of vacation

Building on the legacy and strategies of past movements, the Movement for Black Lives has created a broad political home for Black organizers, activists, and their organizations. Our ecosystem is held together by politics of abolition, anti-capitalism and radical Black Queer Feminisms and a value system that fights for the most marginalized amongst us. 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Movement Infrastructure Executive Assistant provides stellar administrative support of a substantial and confidential nature, anticipating needs, proactively solving problems, and supporting a high functioning Movement Infrastructure and Operations Executive (MIO). Most of the work requires a high degree of autonomy, without prescribed procedures, and with delegated authority to exercise discretion and judgment especially in communication with stakeholders. Many objectives, priorities and demands are typical of this role; details are below. May require travel and work on occasional weekends and evenings as determined. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Logistics, Planning and Calendar Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage the Movement Infrastructure and Operations Executive (MIO Exec) activities, including:
    • Management of complex calendars
    • Travel arrangements and associated logistics
    • Meetings: independently discern when to commit MIO Exec to meetings based on an in-depth understanding of the priorities of the M4BL
    • Conferences with individuals and entities internal and external to M4BL
    • Scheduling and documentation support for Leadership Bodies of M4BL meetings 
  • Organize and manage logistics associated with the MIO Exec meetings, retreats, and special events
  • Manage multiple projects: anticipate and track critical dates, expenses, events, and logistical needs 

Correspondence, Documentation & Communication 

  • Support the Movement Infrastructure and Operations Executive in management of their email inbox, scheduling appointments, and supporting follow-up activities 
  • Ensure timely acknowledgment of donations via thank you letters and related correspondence
  • Organize and maintain impeccable electronic filing systems 
  • Assist in documentation and submission of purchase receipts and reimbursements

Emergent, Proactive, and Responsive Support 

  • M4BL is a movement supporting, catalyzing and building organization, as a result we are a dynamic and evolving constellation of team, organizations and leaders that need to be ready for a variety of conditions that are emergent, urgent, as well as proactive

  • Responsibilities also include the completion of tasks as assigned by MIO Exec

Project Coordination 

  • Support the Movement Infrastructure and Operations Executive with tracking, execution, and evaluation of projects and workflows
  • Implement project management systems and processes 
  • Support research, planning, and coordination for major projects as requested by Movement Infrastructure and Operations Executive

  • Prior experience in a movement organization

  • Creative problem-solving skills
