Organizational Background
Rebuilding Together Atlanta is one of 150 affiliates in 44 states which mobilizes volunteers, in kind donations, and financial support to make critical home repairs at no charge to help low income veteran and senior homeowners. Our organization is authentically grounded in our community. In 2020, we partnered with over 15 corporations, small businesses, and contractors, mobilized more than 130 volunteers, and completed repairs for over 43 homes and 1 community park. Our repairs eliminated nearly 100 home hazards. Over 90% of our clients are seniors who want to age in place comfortably and safely.

This Moment
After shifts in strategy and management structures, Rebuilding Together Atlanta has charted a course for the next several years. The next Executive Director will be coming into an organization with passionate staff and volunteers, who will all be looking to them to provide strong leadership for the path forward while honoring the strategic efforts made by the organization over the pandemic. 

Executive Director role:
The Executive Director (ED) reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the overall management for the activities of Rebuilding Together Atlanta, including supervision of all RTA contractors. The ED implements the strategic goals and objectives of the organization, directs and oversees the delivery of the Rebuilding Together Atlanta mission. Successful candidates will have a strong passion for the Rebuilding Together mission and be able to communicate that passion with vision to help secure corporate and foundation funding to help meet annual budget goals.

The Executive Director has a broad range of leadership, management and oversight responsibilities, including but not limited to: 

  • Directing and overseeing all RTA programs and activities and staff
  • Serving as the lead spokesperson for RTA, developing and coordinating public awareness, visibility, and brand enhancing activities and capturing individual and community impact narratives and relaying those stories to potential partners and funders.
  • Engaging Board members in the mission and work of RTA, including developing and carrying out strategic initiatives and supporting corporate and individual fundraising 
  • Cultivating new sources of corporate, institutional and individual giving and supporting the Development Director in grant writing efforts  and the development of special events to raise funds and build community. 
  • Growing social-media and other online source presence and secure in-kind gifts and benefits from service providers.
  • Coordinating dues, insurance, and other administration, and sponsorships/partnerships with RT National
  • Stewarding both new and existing relationships with community partners, and engaging volunteers and community leaders on site during project days and working with the Program Manager in the development of new community programs.
  • Developing and recommending the annual operating budget to the Board and monitoring expenses within the annual budget and to meet funder obligations.


Required skills and Experience:

  • Ability to manage all responsibilities listed above.
  • Passionate about RTA’s mission and comfortable communicating the mission publicly
  • Experience collaborating with diverse group of stakeholders, including funders,  board, staff, and volunteers
  • Proven ability to attract, mentor and retain a strong and diverse staff and volunteer base
  • Proven success in raising funds from corporations, individuals, and foundations
  • Experience working within a small nonprofit setting 


Desired Skills and Experience

  • Prior work within the affordable housing sector. 
  • Experience with relationship management.
  • Strategic planning experience.
  • Experience putting together systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Work within a national affiliate nonprofit marketplace.


Location and schedule

  • Full-time (commensurate with experience); typically 40 hours per week – may work more around peak times, volunteer projects, events, and deadlines.
  • Must be located in Metro Atlanta area; while the position is primarily remote, must have the flexibility to work in the Buckhead agency office at least once weekly
  • Able to work flexible hours, some evenings or weekends
  • Experienced driver with current license
  • On site at events and project days

Salary: $70,000-85,000 annually
