The Foundation is the sole fundraising entity for the children's hospital at Stanford and maternal and child health programs at Stanford's School of Medicine. Philanthropy supports clinical care, research, innovation and education to improve the health of children and expectant mothers, locally and worldwide.

JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Prospect Research & Development Analyst (“the Analyst”) is a core member of the cutting-edge Prospect Development team at the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health. Through prospect identification, research, and management; through data acquisition, monitoring and analysis; the Analyst deepens the Foundation’s relationships with prospects, donors, and supporters. The Analyst plays a vital role in helping the Foundation meet its goals for fundraising, engagement, communications, and stewardship.

This role reports to the Assistant Director of Prospect Research.

Due to Covid-19, employees of the Foundation are currently working remotely. Once the Foundation office reopens, expected in the coming months employees will transition to hybrid work. The Prospect Research and Development Analyst is eligible for hybrid work, meaning they are working in the office or in person whenever needed and on average of eight days a month. Note, the Foundation has a mandatory Covid-19 Vaccination Policy, and all new employees must submit proof of their Covid-19 vaccination and booster vaccine at the time their employment commences. Alternatively, prior to commencing employment, new employees may request approval for accommodation for an exemption to the policy as permitted by law.

Preference will be given to candidates able to be on site in Palo Alto, CA for 8 days/month though full-time remote candidates will be considered. Compensation will be adjusted for location.

 

GENERAL POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Assistant Director:

  • Proactively identify, research, and analyze new and existing donors and prospects for gift cultivation, with an emphasis on major and principally rated prospects, many sourced from grateful patient family data.

  • Respond in a timely manner to all research inquiries which may include financial assets, potential for philanthropic support, business and professional affiliations, areas of interest and other Hospital affiliations.

  • Interpret and analyze biographical and financial information on individuals, corporations, and foundations, based on fundraising strategies and objectives to inform the fundraising process.

  • Lead select gift officer monthly check-ins and actively participate in portfolio review and prospect management strategy discussions.

  • Serve as a liaison to select fundraising teams.

  • Write and edit succinct and informative prospect profiles and present information to a variety of stakeholders.

  • Monitor and maintain periodicals and news alerts for relevant data on prospects.

  • Ensure the department’s data collection activities are in line with goals and prospect records are fully filled out and are in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

NOTE: We are a dynamic organization in a rapidly changing industry. Therefore, the responsibilities associated with this position will evolve and grow in accordance with LPFCH's business needs and growth plans. More specifically, the incumbent may be required to perform additional and/or different responsibilities based on the future growth plans for the Foundation.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • 2+ years of experience in research and/or information management, especially related to philanthropy and high net worth individuals.

  • Experience locating, interpreting, and synthesizing financial and biographical information from multiple sources.

  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to successfully communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Experience working in a constituent database (CRM) retrieving, verifying, compiling, and maintaining data elements (updates, additions, deletions).

  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel.

 

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in prospect research at a non-profit, preferably at a healthcare organization or an institution of higher education.

  • Experience with multiple research tools, including LexisNexis, DonorSearch, iWave, Relationship Science, google alerts.

  • Experience working with data models or scores as tools to prioritize a few from the many.

  • Experience with The Raiser’s Edge v.7.93+, PowerBI; willingness and ability to learn different fundraising CRM and reporting software.
