Atlanta Legal Aid Society seeks four Paralegals.

  1. The Health Law Partnership (“HeLP”) Paralegal position is located within Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite. HeLP is a community-based, medical-legal partnership between Georgia State University College of Law, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and the Atlanta Legal Aid Society, a non-profit law firm. HeLP aims to improve the health and well-being of low-income children, who are patients at Scottish Rite, Egleston, Hughes Spalding, the Center for Advanced Pediatrics, and Children’s clinics and physician offices, by coordinating services to address legal, social and economic conditions threatening their health.
  2. The Senior Citizen Law Project ("SCLP") Paralegal/Administrative Assistant position is located at our Downtown Atlanta headquarters. The SCLP provides advice and representation to seniors age 60 and over in a variety of legal matters including benefits (income and healthcare), probate, home defense and preservation, the rights of nursing home and personal care home residents, and elder abuse/neglect and financial exploitation.
  3. The Georgia Senior Legal Aid Unit ("GSLA") (formerly known as the Georgia Senior Legal Hotline) Paralegal position is located at our Downtown Atlanta headquarters. GSLA provides legal advice, brief service, and referrals to Georgians over 60.
  4. The Pro Bono Unit Paralegal is located at our Downtown Atlanta headquarters. The Pro Bono Unit plans, develops, manages, coordinates and supports pro bono projects that span Legal Aid’s five-county service area.

Qualifications: A degree or paralegal certificate is preferred but not required. Candidates must possess excellent oral & written communication skills; strong organizational skills; excellent computer skills; attention to detail; ability to see tasks through to completion. Candidates must be industrious, dependable, adaptable, detail-oriented, have experience or a demonstrated interest in working with low-income persons and an appreciation of diversity. Candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace and have willingness to learn other software as well as the ability to work in a team or alone. Previous experience with program administration and law office management software, proficiency in Spanish and a willingness to improve language skills are highly valued but not required. Each paralegal position's qualifications vary by department due to the specific nature of the work. Salary and Benefits: The starting salary depends on years of experience. Legal Aid offers a hybrid work schedule that allows staff to work 2 days remotely subject to management approval and a probationary employment period. The program also provides generous fringe benefits, including 12 paid holidays, 30 days paid time off plus parental leave; health, dental, life, and long and short-term disability insurance; partial payment for dependent health insurance; a salary reduction option for a flexible spending account; educational loan reimbursement up to $600 per month (after a $65 per month deductible and set off of other loan reimbursement amounts); voluntary tax-sheltered annuity with 3% match.
